Coley

DTS

The Business
It strikes me that Coley is very much a confidence player.

I really can't see him getting a sniff of the first team at the moment. JCR and G-Man look to have the wing spots sown up and if not we have Bradders and Lawson who seem to be further up the pecking order.

It would make sense to me to send him on loan to London club such as Barnet to get some match experience and strength. Even Stevenage with Mark Stimson.

Lets face it he hardly had much of a look in last season and all this bench warming is not good for the progression of a young player.....

i'd agree with that. but also when paytner and ricketts are fit then maybe lawson should also go out of loan.

I think Gilbo has hit the nail on the head - Tilly and Brush are probably thinking the same thing, but with both Paynter and Ricketts still not fit, Bradbury is having to play up front, hence we don't have enough cover on the flanks.

Cole still has a lot to offer, but both Gower and JCR deserve to be first choice (at the moment).

I rate Mitchell but think he needs some serious toughening up if he's going to feature in this league. A loan spell somewhere would do him the world of good IMHO.

i doubt hooper will be sent out on loan as tilly and co want to mould him into a better player, and oversee his development.

but with lawson and cole they know where they stand with them and therefore games is now what they need.

maybe is paytner and ricketts were fit then lawson might have been sold to notts county.

I wouldnt loan cole out, If Gower or JCR were injured then Cole would be good to use if we needed an attacking option

At the moment Tilly seems to be putting Bradbury wide later on to solidyfy the side, but if we need to create something Cole is great to bring on with 30 minutes to go.

I really think Cole adds something to the team as a squad player, I dont think Lawson will when Ricketts and Paynter are fit.

The obsession with loaning young players out is second only to the obsession of getting a bigger squad.

Whilst Cole needs games under his belt, we do have a reserve team. I would not be happy about entering games without a genuine wide player on the bench. Lawson isn't a genuine wide player (and most of you would have him loaned out along with Hooper as well). Cole can provide a much needed option on the bench in case Gower has an off-day or JCR runs into one too many blind alley. If one of those two gets injured, I wouldn't want to have to put on a more defensive player if you are trying to chase a game, and if you are trying to hold onto a lead his pace would be useful on the counter.

Not yet, but I think he will be out on loan some point this season, but I think its vital that if he goes on loan that we dont get rid of him afterwards like lots of loan players do. keep him for the future

I wouldn't loan out Lawson or Cole because they are both going to get first team opportunities this season. I would say Hooper is probably furthest off from the first team but there's no point loaning him out as we won't be able to have a look at him ourselves and know whether or not to renew his one year contract.

Also, the second part of the heading really reminds me of the Alice Deejay song. "Do you think he's better off on loan?"

Seem to remember that we loaned out Edwards last season but were not able to get him back when we needed him. Keep Cole with us. He is young and can be high impact when brought on towards the end of a game.

Is it just me.. But I thought Lawson was totally sh!t when we played Sunderland.. Ran around a lot but did nothing, and missed at least two good chances to get in or set other players up..

I would have thought he's on a two year deal so would be out of contract at the end of the season.

IMHO that in itself makes a loan unlikely, although Jay Smith showed its not unthinkable.

Do you think you're better off on loan? Do you think you're better off on loan? (Apologies to Alice Deejay)

Seriously, there's no way Cole should be loaned out at the moment. We are just one injury to Gower or JCR away from Cole being a probable starter and he's currently a very useful option to have on the bench. Unless we sign another wide player, which looks increasingly unlikely, Cole will definitely get chances in the first XI this season.

Really sorry! I genuinely missed your Alice Deejay reference. Oh well, there's my career as a proofreader down the drain.

Feel Chalky is perhaps one of our best youngsters potientially in years. We're going to need him this year and feel he'll be a regular by the end of the season...
