Col******r win stadium permission

Birri

Manager
Col******r United have been granted planning permission for their new stadium at Cuckoo Farm.Permission was granted on Tuesday afternoon following the signing of legal agreements for the project, which includes a new hen house, pig sty, silage silo and there is room for a Donkey sanctuary.

Councillor Robert Davidson, Col******r Borough Council's portfolio holder for Regeneration and Partnerships, said: "This is a huge step forward.

"I am delighted that the project can now move on to the next stage."

good for them. I see that there have been letters in their local paper saying it's a waste of money. Even they have f%&kwits living in their town. Hopefuuly the plans for our own stadium and the required planning permission will be news in the next few months.

PS the hen house and donkey sanctuary

are actually 1,500 homes

i wonder if it will mean B&Q will stick one of their large stores out on FF too. the one in Portsmouth is so big you can easily lose people in it!

At least, we won't enter the home end at Cuckoo Farm Stadium - great innt, room for 5'000+ Southenders in future derby game

Remember this was only Outline Permission. Its a massive step for them but they still have criteria to meet which can take a great of time to satidfy all parties

Its only a 10K capacity to start with, but there are plans to extend it to 17K if needs be.
Personally I think the 10K capacity is too small, a lot of clubs see a big upswing in support when a new stadium is built, we will be in a similar situation.
A lot of fans will not go to Layer Road because of the poor facilities available, also we will be able to offer away fans more tickets, so the sides who bring down the most fans to Layer Road (like yourselves
smile.gif
) should be able to swell the gates a bit more than you do now.
This would be very important in a higher division where there are many big support clubs who could easily bring 3-4K fans for a league fixture.
You can look at the plans for the ground at the link below, although they are subject to further change as the situation develops, you will need to look at all 3 PDF files to get the full picture.

Ta.

Even if 10k proves too small, at least it's a step in the right direction - fully agree that many fans refuse to go to the dump that is Layer Road.

By the way, can't understand the relevance of being in a higher division

I carefully avoided saying what season mate, I have supported them for too long to be taken in by all this hype

When we have finished in the top two or won the play off final I WILL believe, until then I have my doubts

Don't talk bollox
Silly Billy! The nice man from Col******r was simply saying that all our fans can trek up there when it is built instead of staring at a giant TV, or taking up precious and scarce home fan seats. Be nice, now!
