Club Museums

Suffolk Shrimper In Dorset

Director⭐⭐🦐
Thought you all might find this of some interest - it is based on an internet survey I conducted in the last week (as not all clubs are great at declaring what they do on the WWW it comes with a caveat that it may not be totally accurate but it does at least give a broad picture. I have a bit more detail in a backing spreadsheet I prepared - the graphic just shows the highlights

Ultimately a club museum is something I'd love to see at Roots as part of a redeveloped East Stand and it's something we will be exploring much more in the future as part of a HIstory Group I'm involved in. My initial thought re it is that a museum should encompass a small cafe and memorabilia stall. Exeter and Charlton have great examples of museums - do take a look if you ever get the chance

Stadium tours became part of the same survey as most clubs in the Premiership who have a museum seemingly keep access to them as part of a paid for stadium tour. I'd like entry to our museum to be free.

Anyway, heaps to consider and debate on all this in the future ..............

you wouldn`t need much space in there to display all our cups and trophy`s maybe just clear one shelf

I'd love a stadium tour. Would be willing to part with £10-£15 as well. Would want to see the lot, not just the nice bits.

Would be great if it was provided by a long serving steward or employee who had a couple decent stories to tell as well.

Ive been behind the scenes and walked down the tunnel out on to the pitch, when i was much younger in a busineas capacity, I was also lucky enough to meet bobby moore behind the scenes and get his autograph as a kid. Both were bloody awesome tbh. I think its a great idea to make revenue and i would recommend it to anyone that cares about the club and especially kids just beginning to support i'd gladly pay to do it again.

Played at Roots Hall many years ago so have had the delight of the changing room, the big old stone bath etc, walking down the tunnel and out onto the pitch.
No idea if the changing rooms have been upgraded over the years but they were really shabby back in the day

When I helped with the stadium cleanup I had a look in the dressing room the old bath you mentioned has had the front knocked out the wall has had some shower heads fitted so this is what they use so judging by the dilapidated state of them they are probably just as you remember ps I won’t mention the away dressing rooms ☹️☹️
