Clarke's volley!

BrettieAngell

THE ROCK GOD
If Clarke's Van Basten-esque volley in the first half had gone in instead of hitting the bar I think that would have been the best goal I would have ever seen, brilliant technique and it came from nothing.

I thought he played really well yesterday probably should have scored when one on one in the first half and was unlucky in the second when the ball just went wide from a tight angle.

We look a different team when he plays, fingers crossed we will sign him next month!

What a shot that was agree totally there mate what an amazing strike and jesus it took the wind out of me when he struck that.

Keep up the good work Leon and he does look happy when he was walking by us at the end we all were chanting LEON LEON LEON! And he had a massive smile on his face. So fingers cross he will be an official SUFC player as of Jan.

I agree, that would have been something special. It certainly took me by surprise as to how he got it anywhere the goal from where he was. Would have been an absolutely stunning goal.

And at the other end.......er Hunts effort.......hmmmm.......biggest laugh of the afternoon....:p

Ole, ole, ole, ole, leeeooonnn, leeeooonnn! This chant is starting to take off now, sounds loud too!

One word for it if it had gone in.

"Sensational."

But hitting the bar from such a tight angle was amazing!

Leeeeeeeeeeeeon, Leeeeeeeeeeeeon, Leeeeeeeooonnnnnnnn!!!!!

Well indeed.

Its good, cos its catchy and it only has two words in the whole thing. Plus people can join in without thinking too hard about the words.

Maybe some similar chants can be born to catch on as this one has.

A couple of times I thought he was a bit greedy - twice he could have put Gower in from 6 yards instead of shooting...wide.

Oh well - that's a striker's mentality after all but overall so far - as a team player he's much better that Eastwood. Just imagine both of them at Southend...Drool!

I don't agree with that - Eastwood's workrate was no worse than Leon's and he was consistently one of the top players in the squad in terms of assists. He was also a great outlet for the side because the defenders could always knock the ball out to him safe in the kwoeledge that he was going to hold onto it and retain posession.

That's the idea mate. Keep your ears open for more Blue Voice gems!

Ps, if anyone has ideas for new chants, songs and a new club anthem please add your suggestions to the appropriate thread in The Blue Voice Forum

Stunning strike, a shame it didn't go in! We look so much better when he plays, like a side that can challenge for promotion rather than one that makes up the numbers.

Didn't Ricky Otto actually score a goal from a similar effort some years ago. If my memory serves me right I am sure it was at the same end but from the left hand side of the pitch?

That shot was right in front of me and well what a strike! That would have been goal of the season! What a player Leon is! Sign him up Tilly!

Totally agree. Mrs CI-City Blue was in attendance yesterday, and couldn't believe that he first got the volley in, and then it hit the bar ! !

Fantastic technique, and he will be the difference between a chance at the play-offs, and mid-table safety. It is a team game, but goals win games...

If it had nestled in the back of the net that would have been probably among the best goals seen scored at the Hall, I'm sure.

What a screamer it was.

really like this chant and its something different. also that volley was very very nice. came from nowhere and shocked everyone. because it was at the north end it slightly hid the fact that it was actually really wide which made it even better. leon had a great game even though he didn't score i like the way he gets others involved. first time in a while we've had a big strong striker and can also score!

Great to have a striker who can produce the unexpected and who has the technique to carry it off. I like the look of the Clarke-Morgan pairing as they seem to complement each other's style of play. I do wonder about Morgan's capacity to lose his footing so regularly though- longer studs perhaps- and that he has failed to open his account so far. Hopefully when he finally does so the floodgates will open.

sorry but i saw very little from a morgan-clarke partnership, they were miles apart for most of the game. morgan linked well at times with hunt and bailey but i thought leon looked much more comfortable with charlie up top.

also clarkes effort was class, some will knock him for being greedy and there were times he maybe could of passed it, but im glad he always has an eye for goal and he he truely looks like he could score from anywhere
