Choice of Ref

Can't believe that The FA, for a local derby game, picked a referee who has got such a bad reputation, despite his prem status, and who did not referee a single game last year due to injury and so, logically, wont be very sharp. I thought that some of his decisions were strange to say the least and he didnt seem to grasp that every controversy in the game had something to do with that Thornton

Apart from the Thornton incidents apart (he should have booked him early on to discourage him from continually diving) I though the ref wasn't too bad to be honest. much better than alot we have had!

we've seen much worse. He should have stopped the diving from the start though, which would have made the match a much more enjoyable and to say the least FAIR!

The referee and the linesman over by the West Stand were very poor- but they were consistently poor! The standard was not good enough and for such lenience to shown in the face of some pretty obvious diving, notably by Thornton, was ludicrous. So much for the FA instruction to clamp down on diving. However, I don't blame the referee for the result and disappointment about Macca's hotheadedness has been posted elsewhere, correctly in my view. We must remain professional and focussed if we are to make our class tell against teams we could and should beat.

Nothing new about the standard of Ref, having seen the incident on the Championship agian yesterday morning I dont think Macca touched the guy.

How he kept missing the amount of times Harrold was being climbed all over I dont know, at one stage he had two guys all over him!

Giving a free kick when Thornton fell over his own player is not bad?
