Having studied the video again, their winner was a complete freak turn of events...

1. I believe it was never a corner in the first place.
2. Simpson's clearance hitting the Chesterfield player on the arse.
3. The rebound looping over everyone and straight into the path of a Chesterfield player.
4. Anthony Grant (I think) remaining on the post, maybe a little too long, keeping the Chesterfield player onside, for him to smash home.

On another day, any of the following would of happened.

1. The corner wouldn't of been given and Morris would of hoofed the goal kick up field. With the Ref blowing for FT.
2. Simpson's clearance would of gone 50 yards up field. With the ref blowing for FT again.
3. Simpson's clearance would of hit the Chesterfield player and bounced to safety. With the whistle going for FT.
4. Grant would not of been on the post and the Chesterfield player would of been flagged off side from the rebound. The resulting free kick would of seen the FT whistle.

Just one of those freak goals that hits all teams at some point during the season. We will have our fair share of luck I am sure...

But on reflection it was a pretty decent performance and we certainly deserved a point, if not all three. Play like that more often than not and take those bloody chances (Simpson's in particular was a real awful miss) and we will be troubling the play-off spots, without doubt.

Shame for Soares, a well taken volley there. It's remarkable how different wingers with confidence look in comparison to those out of form/favour... By the sounds of it, PS made the right decision to pick a Soares buoyed by his midweek goal ahead of Hall, although I'd prefer both of them in the side.

The extended highlights are on the BBC website now. We really were desperately unlucky.

The danger with two out and out wingers is that your midfield would be overrun, especially away from home - unless you go 4-3-3/4-5-1 (or play a team as abysmal as Barnet).

I think we'll see Soares used more away from home, as whilst Hall has looked good going forward, his non-league background shows when we don't have possession.

Definitely good news for Soares to be playing with some confidence as his play up until Barnet had been pretty underwhelming.

Given Corr's prevalence in the air, I'd have thought the 4-5-1/4-3-3 system would be favoured away from home, and it seems PS would think the same because of how quick he was to lament Corr's absence on Saturday.

Was going to mention Corr in relation to Smiffy's post....

Yes, Chesterfield's goal was unfortunate on a number of accounts, but if the ball is in the right areas often enough, it will eventually break for you. This is where someone like Corr comes into. He can hold the ball up, meaning that the ball is in a dangerous area for longer rather than coming straight back with interest. He gives you time to get midfielders into the box (something we're so much better at this season) meaning that you've got a better chance of the ball falling to one of your players.

So it wasn't just his goals we missed, but his hold-up play as well. He's a critical player for us, and it's worrying that he's struggling with injuries again. Even a half-fit Corr is better than any other forward (other than Sturrock) at the club.

I'm glad Smiffy added point 4 having just seen the goal for the first time. Didn't see Grant in the highlight n
