Ref Watch Cheltenham ... back so soon.

Mick

Life President
Having refereed our final non-match of the season against Port Vale, Andy Woolmer (like Dean Whitestone also from Northamptonshire) returns to take charge of our League Cup tie at home to Cheltenham.

Obviously there is little to add since last time except that he is now in his 5th season and makes his 5th visit to Roots Hall. He is unlikely to be any taller than he was last time, but this time he'll have a match with something resting on the result.

Assistants are Marvin Thompson from Middlesex and the very poor Ian Bentley from Kent. Fourth official is the unfortunate Ray Lee who was thrown off the League referees' list at the end of last season despite not being the worst referee by a long way.

There are no SG officials on duty for League Cup 1 which explains why Leeds don't have one.

The Select Group are referees who normally officiate on Premiership matches and are employed by the Professional Game Match Officials Limited

They are paid an annual retainer (was £33,000 .. may be more now) in addition to their match fees.

They are the ones you see on TV.

In addition to the list originally published, Rennie and Walton won their appeals for a further year despite reaching the previous retirement age.

By the way, we have a SG referee at Millwall ... details of which one when they are published.
