Any recommendations?

Looking for something to use on the train for software development. Processor and memory more important to me than graphics card, huge HDD etc.

You name it - I do it!

Commercially C++, Java and some C#.

Will be using laptop for C++, Java and probably Erlang. Will probably run windows and linux.

Just a nice big number cruncher really . 4GB upwards. Anything with a duel core . Propably about £600 upwards . I know you say you don;t want anything with a flash graphics card but i seem to remember w while back that they can be used as extra Co-processor's .

Was looking at the budget end of the market around 400 sheets. 4gb and a half decent processor are all I need to run visual studio. Everything else I will use Linux for.

You'd be suprised actually - ran a quick check on PC World last night, found some 4gb, 500gb HDD models for under £400.

The bottom of the range Dell inspiron at £358 has adaquate specs for me but have heard concerns about build quality. My ex employee used to supply us with thinkpads which were superb.

I've got a similar request. got a 750quid work budget to buy myself the most powerful 13inch laptop possible. any suggestions??

Nice, trying not to go off topic, but I am doing C++ and C# in my first year at Uni and enjoying it.

My budget is around £500 at most.
