Change of formation

M@CC@ 16

First XI
Why don't we try a 4-3-3 (i know all our strikers are sicknotes):

------------------------Joyce--------------------

Francis-------New CB-------Barrett------New LB

---------------Moussa--------JFC----------------

-----------------------Macca---------------------

----Walker-------------------------Foran (Robinson)

---------------------Freedman-------------------

Then we have less width a more creativity around the box.

Don't see why we try and use wingers, cause how often do we actually cross the ball in and head/shoot the ball in. However give Freedman a chance, around the box on the floor in front of the goal and he'll score.
Plus neither of our tall players are properly fit atm, and then we wouldn't just hoof it up, we'd look for Walker and probs Robinson to go at the other team direct, Freedman dropping off, Macca driving through would be unstoppable.

Play Joyce over Mildenhall, cause despite trying he does about as much harm as good, and we won the one game Joycie played in, albeit 4 - 3. But he was shouting trying to arrange the defence.

However we need 2 new defenders, assuming the big PC leaves, and we might keep some clean sheets and score some goals.

Did you watch today's game?

We tried that in today's game(!)

Looked alright in the second half (better than the first anyway) but we just don't have enough guile to break anyone down.

Macca out
Foran out
Freedman out

Other than that...

Yeah i said i know we have injury problems but they're not out forever, more just showing how the formation would work.

When we won the league and the playoffs we had 'little' strikers and didn't play long ball, gower would cut in and not stay out wide, maher would sit in the JFC position, was saying we should try and get that style back.

----------Mildenhall---------
Francis Clarke Barrett Herd
-----JFC Grant Moussa-----
Scannell--------------Walker
-----------Barny------------

The reason we are struggling to break down teams is because the players aren't creative enough, and some of them aren't good enough on the ball.

Think back to the likes of Bailey, Gower, Eastwood, Maher and Sawyer. All of them where able to create chances whether they was with a trick, a cross, a pass etc and provide that x-factor to create something out of nothing.

The only players in the squad that are capable of doing something like that appear to be Laurent (out injured), Walker and possibly Moussa.

fair point.

Think moussa is a good player, and keeps it on the deck, but maybe we should give him more creative freedom

its not a change of formation that we need, its a change of personnel!

Exactly! And changing the formation when we're so close to the drop zone would be suicide, switching from the 4-4-2 that the players are accustomed to would most probably drag us into a real battle to stay in League One. We tried changing the system pre-season and early season and it backfired.

with what we have got.

Mildenhall
francis, clarke, Barrett
Betsy, Moussa, Cristophe, Macca (Grant),Herd
Barnard, Walker (Freedman)

In my opinion Francis is the best CB that we have!!
