Centre Half 2 - Old fashioned stopper

Ron Manager

formerly Libertine
Team so far -

Sansome
Austin
Powell
Prior

Nominations for a more rugged, no nonsense stopper beside Prior.

My nomination is Paul Clarke

Mark McNally was a classy centre back but great in the tackle too. Cant recall what happended to him but he was a class act.

Clark, yes, for me, but will also nominate Neil Townsend again - this was more his area to be fair rather than the cultured side.

Torn between Pat Scully and Paul Clarke.

If it's players I have seen, then Scully it is. If it's in general, then I know Paul Clarke is a legend.

Pat Scully.

Aren't there 2 Clarkes here? Paul and Peter?

And what about John "The Gorilla" Kurilla?

I renominate Alan Mody, integral part of the defence that only conceeded 5 home goals in our 1980/1 championship season...... a feat never to be matched and unlikely to in the future.
