I thought that new lad played well at CB last night. Not the tallest but won some good headers, nudged their 6"4 striker off the ball and made a vital block in the 44th minute so at least we went in 1-0 up. Apparently he can play right or left back and has also been captain in the past.....Just the sort of player a club like ours needs.......I never bought one of those pointless programmes so does anyone know his name ?

From CP on twitter: Blues have two bids on the table for centre-backs and have also spoken to six other clubs about bringing in a defender.

Sokolick? No 15, he was here on loan a while ago and had a good game last night overall winning lots of headers at the back.

Shouldve sorted this out in June/July so they would have time to build a partnership and get to know the rest of the team. V hard for a centre back to come in (espeically if a premier youngster) once the season has started and gel immeidately and have a postiive impact. The problem is in the centre of midfield too, both Leonard and Atkinson are well short of their best. We could do with a nasty bugger in there to do the dirty work, rough up the likes of JET and other opposition players. Would love us to try and get Granty back.

Imagine if we had a manager who spent the time in the close season getting these sort of deals done instead of cosying up to his mate to try and get him an England gig

I suspect transfer deals take longer to put together than doing two quick interviews for TalkSport do.
