Castro dies at 90

Think we have been here before. Are you suggesting Castro's takeover was a bloodless coup? With your wonderful knowledge of history you would know all about the reprisals carried out by your hero and his sidekicks.

Good old Che puffing away on a havana while watching the fireing squads ring a bell?

What I am suggesting is that Castro was not "a mass murderer." Batistia's regime was the most corrupt of anywhere in Central or South America, (and that's saying quite a lot).

Granted Castro's record in power in terms of dealing with political opposition, gays etc is open to question, not the way he took power.Batista was the mass murderer, not Castro.

"Castro’s revolution was a remarkably peaceful process, apart from a number of Batista’s henchmen shot in the first weeks."

Some of what Castro did was good but he achieved it by executing tens of thousands of people, prevented the press from speaking out and banned people from traveling abroad without the government's permission first. I'm not sure one brutal regime being replaced by another is anything to celebrate.

It is sad when a fellow human shrugs off this mortal coil and sometimes it is just not so sad,for me this is a not so sad death and i hope the people of Cuba can grow in some kind of freedom.

Surely a wind up?

Would you accept the living conditions and constraints he passed on to the Cuban people then Barnablue?

I would accept that the medical and educational standards in Cuba are second to none compared to any other country in Central and Southern America.

Having been to Cuba (in the early 90's) I saw for myself the difficulties the Cuban people were having, after the withdrawal of aid from the USSR.

People like you and castro gtx make this wonderfull world we live in a mess up cess pit and the sooner politics and ego are praised apart for the common good of the people the better.

you really are a pathetic human being. at least be honest and say that you think all the deaths and torture was justified, don't say his use of those methods is 'open to question'.

I was in the Prague this weekend, they know all about life under totalitarian dictatorships: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memorial_to_the_Victims_of_Communism

Great leaders are elected. Those praising Castro generally just admired the power he held over his people. Power that was maintained by fear, of course.
