Zone Update Carl Pettefer

Now midfield general at AFC Totton in the Southern League, Division One, South and West.

Bit of a waste if you ask me, he could easily still play at a higher level.

Exclusive Petts interview in next All At Sea, out for Gills match.

very surprised, he's only 28... why didn't it work out at Bournemouth?

He signed there on a week-to-week contract under Kevin Bond when they had real financial problems.

He then cancelled the contract a week before Bond was sacked, reckons it could have been different if he'd been there when the new manager came in.

Surprisingly did not get many offers from league clubs after this.

I was a bit bored at home the other day and sky was playing up so I put on the Blues promotion video the year we went up via the play offs. It was suprising the amount of assists he actually got.

What does he do for a living nowdays Ed?

Yeah he was a big part of our League Two promotion campaign, ever present, and was involved in the build up to lots of goals. Didn't stop some fans criticising him for not being "attacking enough"...

Apart from playing for Totton he is doing some studying and teaching/coaching at local schools in Hampshire.

Read more in interview in AAS later this month...

A massively underrated player in his spell with us.

Good luck to the guy, played a key role under Tilson.

He was also influential in keeping us in League 2 the season before.
