According to the honest hard working folks at FootballData Co. who own the rights to all football fixtures, scores, tables, club crests etc. etc., you will now need to purchase a license worth up to £15000 to display SCORE UPDATES on a website.

http://blogs.journalism.co.uk/editors/20....emails-in-full/

I know certain users on here, myself included, are guilty of cruelly ripping off these fellas off by having the gall to post score updates from time to time. I personally will stop as should all of you before you lift anymore money directly from their pockets.

If that is the case and people are doing it on here, then ultimately it's the site owners who will take the rap.

We'll look in to this a bit further, but this could, in time, mean lots of post deletion. Balls.

Not a cat in hell's chance they could enforce it. Too much time, energy and cost to enforce, not just on sites like this but the countless other unofficial media outlets that give out such updates.

Hopefully the recession will put this company to the wall. It would be thoroughly deserved.

The thing is, if they were sensible about it and charged something like £10 per year, everyone would probably pay it and be legal.

They can't stop people posting who's scored on forums, that's stopping freedom of speach. They can stop websites being setup simply to display different scorelines as they come in though. But surely they can't stop forum posts.

This is stupid. Lets copyright all posts made on this forum and if any website copys them then lets sue them!
