Car Service advice....

... It's time to get my wife's car serviced (Toyota Yaris). Called the main dealer (Lookers) and was quoted £277 + £50 MOT

Did a quick search on the web and found a 'Westfield Motors' in rayleigh - they market themselves as an alternative Toyota Specialist. Anybody used them ?

Anybody got any other recommendations ?

my mum has a yaris.. i'll ring her later and let you know where she gets it serviced

To be honest I always find that despite the manufacturer of sid car being the higest price, I think that you cant really go wrong with them. I have a renault and always use the garage in prittlewell area and find that despite being slightly pricey, I got excellent service and I trusted them.

Unfortunately I cannot say the same of this main dealer garage.. I used to have a Toyota as a company car and ended up using them for 99% of services - nightmare! I only used them as it was convienent to do so...

But they were better than the local VW main dealer.........

Cheers - I've always used main dealers before to retain main dealer service history (adds a little value to the car when selling) or manufacturers warranty. This time I think we could be keeping the car for a longer period than usual and therefore don't see the point.

Havent had a car serviced in a main dealer for years. My mate and his dad have their own car servicing business in South Woodham and has serviced my cars for many years. Unless I can help it I wouldnt use a main dealer. Over priced and many think highly of themselves with lots of promises.....only good thing is you get a courtesy car at most.

Don't know where you are, but these people are always very accommodating and service is excellent. Don't try and rip you off. Customer service as it should be.

I'm not related, before you ask!!!!

Sorry about the font sizes. I can't change them.

PS. make sure using a non Toyota agent doesn't invalidate your warranty (if you have one).

Used the main Vauxhall garage when I lived just outside Brentwood - NEVER again. Stupid price.

Even now I still go over to a garage in Stondon Massey to get my cars seen to.

No help to you there, but illustrates my dislike of main dealerships.

Westfield Motors are fine but if it's only a yearly service then save a fortune and do it yourself. Change the oil filter, air filter, dump the old oil,new spark plugs and new oil and away you go. Whole lot wont cost more than £45 tops and takes about an hour.

Not of help to you - but maybe to others. I get my car serviced at a main dealer in Cornwall when I do my annual visit to my mum - it costs around a third of the price of the main dealer in Essex.

Interesting point there Matt... a few years back, my wife had a Vauxhall Corsa which needed it's annual service - being only 2 years old I wanted a main dealer service. Called the Southend VX dealers (£190), Basildon VX dealers (£160) and then the one in lakeside (£120). Also called the dealer in Tunbridge Wells (cos that's were my office is) and they wanted £215.. Same service criteria from all of them.... We used the Lakeside dealer in the end and spent the difference in IKEA!

I suppose I could pick some other Toyota dealers!!!

Maybe for the future, but this car needs a big service and I want to keep the service history book going...

Think I'll try this mob out as they are virtually at the top of my road. Car is out of Manufacturers warranty, so no probs there..
