Captain next season

I know John white is captain with AB as vice captain.

I'm thinking it's time for Ryan Leonard to get the opportunity for the loyalty and improvement he has shown.

Also the other two will not start every week

Seem to remember a feeling that captaincy would distract Lenny (not sure if from Lenny himself).
The obvious choices are JW, AB and Tims but all run the risk of not being ever present. I would have AB as club captain- and if he is not in the team give to a deputy and then another senior player. If AB does not play he will still be in the squad/around the team.

Unless we make a signing that is clearly captaincy material, I'm expecting Leonard to be named. Not because of loyalty - what sort of nonsense would that be - but because he's likely to start every game if fit (who else is?) and because he generally does things the right way. Rightly or wrongly neither Barrett or White are definite starters, and it's important the captain is, for me.

A thought for those who like the idea of Barrett as captain because he shows his passion. So does Joe Hart.

JW from my understanding commands immense respect among the players and unless he's off I can't think we would take it from him. I'm wondering if we will see him convert to a centre-back this season.

He could "do a job" to cover a suspension, or an injury in game, but no way could be play full time at centre back.

His a right back, and can do a job at left back.

I don't see why he couldn't play there full-time if he spends a bit of time working on the position. He might not be the most muscular but he's more so than Thommo, he's also decent in the air and has good positional sense. His main downfall at full-back is his lack of pace.

He will play right centre back. As we will undoubtedly play a 5 3 2 system with 3 centre half's and coker and Demetriou a swing backs

Only two contenders for me - Barrett and Timlin (which is a concern in itself as there is some doubt if both will be regulars)....
