One of our youth team players has signed for an undisclosed fee to Wolves. Anyone know much about him?

From what I understand a full-back in U16 age group who played a few times for U18 last season. This kind of thing is why we need to push for Cat 2 status as quickly as we can.

Odd that the club state the fee to be "undisclosed" as they're fairly easy to work out given the EPPP rules. We get £12,500 for each year he was at the club between the ages of 12 - 16, and £3,000 per year if he was attached to us from 9 - 11.

Does anyone know how long he was with us?

So what are we roughly looking at 50K?

About that, I'd say. If Wolves get promoted to the Premier League and he breaks through into the first team within the next 2/3 years, that's where the money is. We'd get an extra £150k for every 10 appearances he makes up to 60 games, then an extra £100k for every 10 appearances up to 100 games if that were to happen.

Not a bad deal really then. Lets hope the young lad makes it to the top with Wolves

We seem to be making a few quid along the way, play offs, Wembley, season cards, friendlies, this young lad joining Wolves, it all certainly helps keeping us ticking over.

which also suggests that the Trust are correct as to where we should be spending a reasonable amount of budget imho

I think everyone would agree on here wholeheartedly, youth for smaller clubs is the way forward. The likes of DB proves that. Does the TRUST have a say on this matter then?

It also exposes the importance of attaining Cat 2 status though, as that fee would be doubled if we were a Cat 2 club.

it sounds pretty much like a disgusting stitch up then where the bigger clubs make the rules and the rules say that is costs nothing to get promising kids off the small clubs

for the benefit of the ignorant, i.e. me, what is a Cat 2 status and what do we have now then?

Academies are given a category status from 1 (best) to 4 (worst). We are currently have category 3 status, but we can still have our youngsters poached by clubs who have a category 1 or 2 status.
