Calling all you teachers out there.....

Vange Shrimper

Mrs Rock God
Finally got myself an interview :) Woohoo!

Anyway, just wondering what type of bits to put into my portfolio to take to the interview. I know I need to take lesson plans, examples of work, assessment stuff, but is there anything else I need, and how many bits of each to put into my portfolio? I'm teaching at 8.35am to my lovely Year 7's (being observed as well for the job) and then my interview is at 10am, so wont have much time inbetween to sort stuff out.

Any help would be awesome :)

Ta.

As a student (year 12) the best thing you can do is put on some music, hand out free sweets and tell us to draw a picture of our house.

Well I go to my school's sixth form!

It would go down well, but considering I have an exam on Friday I think it's best I do some work...

What do you teach?

Hils, from the other side of the fence - don't try too hard! I had to watch a candidate do a segment of a lesson and he was so busy trying to be "hip and happenin'", he completely forgot the purpose of the observation. Don't be smarmy either - goes down like a lead balloon amongst the other professionals already in the school. Can you give me an idea where your interview is (by pm if you like)? Just be honest.

If My old teachers are anything to go by, Show you can balance on the back legs of a chair whilst leaning back asleep and demonstrate unerring accuracy with a board rubber

you can't do much worse than phone up and ask if there is anything specific they would like you to provide.

That's a cracking page they've got there.

The only thing that I can see missing is a question on your lesson. The panel WILL ask you how you thought the lesson went, how it could be improved if you were to do it again, and what were you pleased with. If it's a starter instead of a whole lesson then they'll ask where you would have gone with it.

Oh, and Good Luck!

That's nice aint it?!

True though you do look like an old growler!.....

What kind of a decent starter could I use? I keep doing the 80's cartoons and testing their observation skills, but I dont know if that would be good enough for an observation lesson by a SLT member! I know your Maths and i'm ICT, but you might have a suggestion that I can use!

Lessons before 9?!?!?!

Not in my day!!

I am affraid I cant really offer advice, but I would advice the simple things, be yourself and be relaxed, because thats what you will need to be if you get the job to succeed.
