Sorry mods, wanted to post in here to give this more exposure, but I understand if you decide to move it!
I am moving to Florida on July 23rd, meaning that after 6 years, I am unfortunately having to vacate my role as Southend United Data Researcher. Sports Interactive will soon be advertising the position, but I thought I'd mention it on here to see whether anyone is interested in taking the role over.
It's not a huge commitment, but it does need somebody who attends matches regularly. There are 3 phases of research between May and August to get the data ready for that November's new game; and there is a phase of research during/just after the January transfer window to implement transfers and make any data changes after you've had 5 months to observe the team during the first half of the season.
It is a labour of love - all you get is a free copy of the game and a research credit within it, as well as being offered the opportunity to beta test the new game whilst it is in development. But if you take the role seriously and watch certain players more closely to judge them, it certainly makes you see the game and the team in a different way.
The data research itself is not difficult. All of the things you have to do when working on the Club and Staff files makes your head spin a little at first, but you soon get the hang of it and it becomes easy. Sports Interactive and the huge community of fellow data researchers are always on hand to help you out, offer advice or discuss things with you.
If you're interested, drop me a PM and I can forward your name onto SI or put you in touch.
