Calling all computer buffs

For the last three weeks I seem to have major internet problems and need some help. For some reason almost every page I visit has text missing. This is from my server home page to, well everything else I visit. This site is particulary bad with half the topics just blank and no access to any of the reports on the front page. Apart from anything else its bloody annoying especially as im trying to do some very important research at the moment and have the text I need is missing.

One of you computer bods must have an idea whats happening. I've run a virus search programe and thats come up blank so im now knackered for ideas.

HELP!!!

Which ISP are you using? I have a bad service too, pages fail to load, etc. i use Virgin.net who are appalling. I do also have a Freeola PAYG account which runs fine.

I know loads of other people on 56K dial-ups having connection problems. Personally I think there is a conspiracy by the companies to make the 56k connection so bad that we all go on broadband and pay them more money.

I am broadband through BT and haven't had a problem before. Home page is Freeserve which is cr*p as we know but thats what come with the computer and I have never felt the urge to change it. It started after I got rid of Real player and resorted back to Media Player but I cant see that causing the problem.

Who IS your ISP? You say your Broadband through BT. Does that mean your using BTOpenworld/BTInternet or just that your using your BT Line to connect?

The uninstall of Real Player could be the cause of the problem. Real Player registers namespace handlers upon installation and if the uninstall didn't complete correctly this will result in loss of data sent back from a web server.

Assuming your using IE, check you've got the latest sevice pack.

Try a reinstall/install of IE

If your ISP is BtOpenworld, have you installed the "new" BT/Yahoo browser? This is also IE based but there have been reported problems for some users.

Try "pinging" a couple of sites to see if there is a delay in response times.

Kev

Is it only Internet you are having problems with?
Have you installed any firewall software recently or changed your security settings in IE?

Try deleting the temporary internet files.
