16:45 London Fenchurch Street to Shoeburyness due 17:53

Time: 09/06/2009 16:28

This train has been started from Barking. It will no longer call at: London Fenchurch Street and Limehouse. This is due to a line-side fire.

Could be a long journey!

Oh bugger! Does this mean all services are going to be disrupted for the rest of the evening?

Depends on the size of the fire I suppose and if it does any damage to cabling.

Nice day for a strike :whistling:

Are you still allowed to use your ticket for the normal liverpool st line back to victoria or don't they allow that anymore?

Lucky I've Sky+ Holby.

I was wondering that too - "limited" service through to Shoebury doesn't sound hopeful and the old man just asked what it's best to do, head to Liv St or go through to Barking?

Oh what fun the journey home was, luckily I got a call from Blue Missy informing me of said issues, so I walked the two mins from the office to get the train to Southend Vic.

I am so glad I do not have to travel to work every day on those cattle trucks, I am sure there must be an EU regulation regarding leg room on trains as there is for Planes. I am surprised I did not end up with DVT after having to sit with my knees practically under my chin whilst enduring my shins being knocked each time the guy in front moved on his seat.

I have always wondered about ORM's sanity but to remember him waxing lyrically about this line backs up the decision that he really is one sandwich short of a picnic.

Wow! What happened to everyone? I was lucky, got to Fenchurch St just before 6 when the station re-opened and was on the 18.09 which left just before 15past. Other than that no trouble.

Guess I was one of the lucky ones.

I ended up getting the Tube from Canary Wharf to Barking and the place was heaving. Just before the train pulled in we were told to move to the opposite platform which caused a massive stampede.

Luckily for me I was right by the subway entrance and can move a lot quicker than the elderly, disabled and pregnant travellers so I managed to get on the train but it was a bit of an ordeal.

did the same.. had to trample a few people who had kids with them but thats life commuting.. then a leisurly stroll to the baclk of the train whilst watching everyone pile into the first carriage available.. think there was about 6 people in back carriage the whole way home

not too bad for me
went to Liv Street, got on a train about 6.10 to Shoebury (standing)... however, they suddenly decided to change there mind and it was going to Pitsea via Rainham... just went with the flow, changed at Barking, got on a C2C about 5 mins later and was home 5 mins earlier than usual (mind you i left work 25 mins early), so not too bad i guess!

17:04 from Liverpool St, cab from Southend Vic, home at 18:15. I can live with that.
