By the next time Scunthorpe play...

We could be in a play off spot.

Our next game is on the 4th April away to Huddersfield. Tranmere play on the 5th home to Britsol Rovers, Scunthorpe have the Johnstone Paint final. That means they don't play again till the Good Friday, when they play Huddersfield at home at 7.45pm, we play MK Dons at home the same day, but at 1.00pm.

We just need to score ten in one game and eleven in the other and not concede to make up the goal difference.

Who says there's no optimism on here.

Sort of puts our task into perspective reading your post, but all we can do is have a go,come on you shrimpers.

Our real chance for scoring ten was lst Friday night. After we went two up I was was looking at the Pool players. Their heads were down, they didn't know who they were ment to be picking up or even what formation they were ment to be playing. Instead of going for the juggular We gave them valuable breathing space to regroup by going backwards and sideways, and doing silly little flicks and back heels which in the end was like loosing a point on the night because we only came out of it with plus one goal. We must take chances like this to murder sides because they sure as hell would do it to us!

Holding on to a colossal Humphrey here, but I think our sole chance of getting into a play-off spot is by targeting MK Donuts. They are the team without form in the top 6 and we still have to play them, and we are 8 points adrift. Beat them and we cut that to 5. They have still to go to Scunthorpe to, and have to play the in-form Bristol Rovers too.

Yes, you've been reading the 'Has reality dawned on Tilly?' thread... ;)

This just winds me up even more. If we hadn't of fart arsed about when we lost all loan players before Christmas. If we had done more to secure more players, we would have gained a few more points & therefore put us in the play-offs.

I know it is all about ifs & buts, but we were all going bonkers around this time about the lack of players. Jeff was the only player who would play in the FA Cup games (just as well vs Telford!) & we then pear shape!!

An opportunity missed this season, which Ron might realise & make sure we get a slightly bigger squad for next season & don't rely on buying the Betsy's & Sankofa's of the transfer world!

I admire your optimism but feel you are still being a little unrealistic.

Personally, I can't see us putting more than 6 past MKD,
so we would be better to target a 15 goal win at Huddersfield :)

I'm just glad we managed to turn it around and aren't myred into a relegation battle.

And I think if we have any chance of making the play-offs then MK Dons would be our greatest hope of slipping out. First off we play them, and also they have just been slipping backwards now for ages. Scunthorpe look good enough to stay there, and I think Leeds will too.

Bearing in mind the dire situation of two months ago, it's almost incredible that we're even talking about this currently...

Yes, Friday night, whilst a win is a win at this stage of the season, it really was a chance to make up on our goal difference. 20 minutes gone and we are 2-0 up against an out of form side who are down to 10 men and looking very poor. We let them back into the game with the penalty, and again with their second goal. We missed a few big chances, Robinson's two automatically spring to mind.

You can look back to the 3 recent home defeats as well. Yeovil at home against 10 men we lost 1-0. Crewe at home we lost 1-0 and Millwall at home we lost 1-0. We SHOULD have beaten those 3 teams, Yeovil and Crewe were terrible and luck deserted us against Millwall. Put an extra 9 points on, or even 6 we are in a much healthier position.

Nil desperandum. We're well above Colchester and even weller above Leyton Orient (see what I did there?) having taken 4 points off each of them. We're not going to get relegated. We've a new stadium on the way. We might get Sawyer at the end of the season. We're second in the form table. Almost all of our players are back from injury. We should win a fair few games in league one next season (and....we...might...even...get...to...6th...place...this...season....).
