Bury, Saturday

Just a warning, I may be scraping pennies together to get back for this one.

It's so frustrating being an exile (of sorts) when the team's playing so well. Can't wait to get back down the Hall again.

No Nugent, pretty average form, beaten at home by Shrewsbury. Personally, I reckon it'll be 3-0 with us finally converting possession in to goals. What does everyone else reckon

Time to break the SAFE/Eastwood hoodoo hopefully!!

I think a hammering of anyone is out of the question as most teams come to the Hall and play a 10 men behind the ball. Getting the three points will be a necessity, and I don't care how we get them. Anyone know who the other promotion contenders have got on Saturday?

Teams don't play with 10 men behind the ball once you take the lead.

True, but getting into the lead seems to be our problem at the moment - in our last two home wins the opener has come after the 75th minute which gives us little time to build much more of a lead.

Exactly, they will put all men behind the ball and come for a draw, but how did they let 3 in against Rushden, i went to them home and away, i cudnt see them scoring without defensive errors all season, so we sould win on saturday, 2-0, but both in the last 30 mins.

However if we can grab an early goal before they settle, say 1st 10 mins, then we could get 4 or 5, as they would have to attack.

I would take a 1-0 win though

I thought last night was going to be tight, but for some reason I see us scoring a few on saturday.

If we take the game to teams right from the off and do nick an early goal, then like HKB said our opponents will have to revert to different tatics, resulting in the game getting more strechted, with this happening it would give our attacking players more time on the ball.

And if you let players like Gower , Maher ,Eastwood, Dudfield time on the ball then we will score more goals.

So an early goal on saturday please lads

In the last six games Bury have drawn two and lost four, scoring three and letting in nine. Not very good form. A quick look at the squad and you have to wonder why? They look an outfit more than capable on paper and one that we should not be complacent about. We all know Brian Barry-Murphy and what he can do and Newby. I still feel that we are due a change of fortune and the rub of the green and maybe registering a few goals on saturday could happen.

I dont know why, we just seem to struggle for goals at home for some reason.

We really need a good 4-0 or 5-0 win to boost our GD because it could decide where we finish in May.

As for Saturday, i can see another frustrating 90 minutes on the cards just like Tuesday.

I can see us pummeling em for the whole game and not sticking chances away.

Shooting practise needed over the next couple of days i feel...

Its high time we put 4 or 5 past someone again, if we can take our chances this Saturday could be it...

This is a must win game, and one we should win comfortably.

It all rests on the boys ability to take the chances that will be a plenty on Saturday.

Its all very well us discussing giving Bury a hammering, However i listened to Tilly on the Radio after the Shrews game and as he quite rightly stated the game is 90mins long and even if after 70mins its 0-0 the players need the fans to enourage not get dispondent.

As we continue to strive for promotion teams wont come to Roots Hall and play there normal tactics, they will come for the draw and stick everyman and his dog behind the ball.

Exactly this is why im calling for the atmosphere to be turned up a few notches from here on in.

So everyone get behind them big time Saturday and hopefully we can get a few goals!.

Just out of interest what does everyone feel the attendance will be?.

I'm going for around the 6,000 mark

i feel that if eastwood and dudfield start together it could be dyer, they are by far our best two strikers but seem to not be able to play together...
mabe dudfers and gray or freddy and gray

OK, I've been guilty of moaning a little about how we struggle to break teams down at home. However the table below, the home table for League 2, would suggest we have a good record in the League at Roots Hall this season. So whilst we are not finding it easy to get results at home we are getting them. Therefore I doubt we will be thrashing Bury on Saturday but form suggests we have a good chance of winning, and that is really all that matters.

Probably why we score from set pieces and have thrown enough men forward to compete. We also have to consider tactics. 90 minutes of nice football can go unrewarded. Sometimes you have to mix it up a bit. Instead of the extra pass you have a crack. Instead of runs into the box with the ball you pump it in from long or wide, sometimes at great pace and hope for the kind deflection. Yeovil have ability, rarely fail to score and can mix it up. They play good football like us one minute and then league Two route one the next. They use strength and probably where we are lacking they use heading ability ( Barrett excluded). They look like a cross between a ballerina and a battering ram and it works. I admire and applaud the Blues for the standard of football they play and enjoy it but goals in this league are not always cultured.
