Bury Maybe Kicked Out of Cup

Quote[/b] ]Bury face the prospect of being thrown out of the FA Cup for fielding an ineligible player in their 3-1 second round replay win over Chester City.

Bury, who play Ipswich in the third round, will answer charges over Stephen Turnbull at a 20 December hearing.

"There are approximately four options that the Challenge Cup sub-committee have," read a Bury statement.

"They could to do nothing, fine the club, order a replay or remove Bury from this season's FA Cup competition."

They have just been kicked out and Chester have taken there place. They will now play Ipswich at home in the 3rd round and will recieve the money given to bury for winning the 2nd round tie.

Right, and Leeds get a £2000 for doing the same? Ok, it wasn't a cup match and they lost the game but still, doesn't seem fair!

Leeds should have been kicked out of the Championship for that too

Bury have made the point that in fact they informed the FA of the mistake as soon as it was discovered. They have been completely upfront and honest and the result has been that they have had exactly the same punishment as if they had done it on purpose and tried to hide the fact. The FA are a complete bunch of tossers, IMHO, who aren't fit to run a jellied eel stall, let alone our great game.

On the same lines was Wrexhams 10 point deduction for being driven into administration by an assett striper - the maximum penalty and exactly the same as Cambridge got for doing it on purpose to avoid the debts they had run up by trying to buy promotion. The FA are ruining our game!!!

Hmmn, thats not a defence.

Otherwise anyone could play a ringer, immediately after the game ring up and "own up" and get away with it.

If Bury are incompetent enough to field ineligible players, whether they own up to it or not, they deserve to be kicked out.

If Barnsley had done the same last Saturday there would be people on here screaming for action.

Leeds gained nothing from their mistake so no punishment needed and unless Bury receive a big fine havent been given favourable treatment.

As for Wrexham, again no defence. Their board showed irresponsible management and put them in that position the club need to be punished. I appreciate its a different board but the rules are there to protect clubs our size and it sends a clear message to everyone else.  For once the FA are actually being consistent!
