Welcome to Geoff_Boycotts_Grandmother XI CG for the match between Geoff_Boycotts_Grandmother XI and 11 men in flight.

We can tell you that Geoff_Boycotts_Grandmother XI won the toss and elected to field. The pitch is looking a touch on the green side. All the seam bowlers have been out there rubbing their hands on this partially cloudy and humid day.

Lets join our team for ball-by-ball commentary.

End of Over 37: 138-2, runrate=3.73
Mcintosh 7-0-30-0
Obrien* 5 (14 balls)
Martin 82 (117 balls)

They did put on a hundred stand for the first wicket, but my hope was to get them 3 down and expose the tail.

Ha, was right about once I got down to their no.5 they look vulnerable - he lasted one ball

End of Over 38: 144-4, runrate=3.79
Livingstone 9-2-22-3
Martin* 82 (117 balls)
Paster 0 (1 balls)
Last Wicket: Ross c. Pembridge b. Livingstone 0 (FOW: 144/4)
37.6 . Livingstone to Paster
Forward defensively, cover running in to field.
37.5 W Livingstone to Ross
Like a bee to honey, Ross gave a snick to that ball as it was swinging away, and it was snapped up by Pembridge. Ross is going to be kicking himself about that one.
37.4 W Livingstone to Obrien
Took a risk and just threw the bat at it, but unluckily it went straight to Montgomery, who took the easiest catch in the world.

In good bowling conditions, I'm a little concerned about how many my tired batsmen can be relied upon chasing down.

My OD top-flight status is drifting away

End of Over 44: 188-4, runrate=4.27
Mcintosh 10-0-54-0
Paster* 28 (19 balls)
Martin 97 (135 balls)

219 needed to be in the top flight of both competitions next season, after I bowled my opposition out in the final over.

I think that is going to be a tough ask.

---------------------------

The players are off the field for the break between innings.

End of Over 50: 218-10, runrate=4.36
Daniels 9-0-41-4
Paster* 46 (32 balls)

49.3 W Daniels to Anya
Bowled him! Slower ball yorker!
49.2 2 Daniels to Anya
Anya smacks a sitter but fails to find the gap. He's lucky that ball didn't carry.
49.1 W Daniels to Shackell
Pembridge! Shackell! Umpire! He's gone and gloved behind!

End of Over 49: 216-8, runrate=4.41
Ramsden 10-0-56-2
Shackell* 1 (1 balls)
Paster 46 (32 balls)
Last Wicket: Delgado c. Griffith b. Ramsden 3 (FOW: 215/8)
48.6 1 Ramsden to Shackell
Pitched on the legs, Shackell flicks in the air to the long leg region, single taken.
48.5 W Ramsden to Delgado
Perfect from Ramsden! Full and straight, angling in towards the edge of a limp bat. A regulation edge is taken with a tumble at slip.

Oh ****! Not the start I was looking for.

1.2 . Anya to Holt
Gloved to the keeper, huge appeal, but no reply from the umpire. Anya looks dejected, Shackell at slip looks like he could kill!
1.1 W Anya to Finnan
The gap between Finnan's bat and pad could have let an oil tanker through. Finnan's stumps are scattered and he trudges off despondently to the pavilion while Anya is engulfed by his team mates with Martin and Delgado leading the high fives.

End of Over 1: 1-1, runrate=1.00, reqrunrate=4.45 (218-10)
Shackell 1-0-1-1
Finnan* 1 (1 balls)
Pembridge 0 (2 balls)
Last Wicket: Griffith b. Shackell 0 (FOW: 1/1)
0.6 . Shackell to Pembridge
Played and missed. That's good bowling.
0.5 . Shackell to Pembridge
Fullish ball outside off stump, stretches well forward before shouldering arms.
0.4 W Shackell to Griffith
Shackell's bowled him! And here comes a dance! He's got great moves, but perhaps he should stick with more traditional dances before entering the national dance contest.
0.3 . Shackell to Griffith
Fullish ball swinging in on off stump, firmly driven straight back to Shackell.
0.2 . Shackell to Griffith
Shackell produces an excellent yorker which Griffith stabs down on just in time.
0.1 1 Shackell to Finnan
Inside edge, past the stumps, square leg running in to get the ball.

Down to these 2 and Montgomery ???

Keigher's not too bad at no.6, but basically yes.

My worry is that his best bowlers bowl in the middle overs. I tried to counter this by getting Finnan to open and try and score some early runs and putting Montgomery, my best batsman at 5 to counter his best bowlers.

Where I lost this one was by not taking early wickets in his innings.

Little bit of a recovery going on.

Bollocks. Not any more

25.1 W Delgado to Montgomery
Short and hoisted away backward of square leg. Wow! What a catch! Paster has dived full length to his left and taken it one handed! Simply brilliant!

End of Over 25: 105-3, runrate=4.20, reqrunrate=4.56 (218-10)
Obrien 6-0-27-0
Montgomery* 18 (27 balls)
Holt 49 (76 balls)
Last Wicket: Pembridge Run Out 34 (FOW: 60/3)

You need a good 10 overs here, otherwise I can see Delgado ripping through you in the last 10.

The run-rate has slipped to over 5.50, and I don't think these two are good enough to score any quicker - they are only my 5th and 6th best batsmen.

My one hope is that Ramsden continues to be an absolute legend and see me home despite his lack of stats, but I'll need to get a lot closer to their target first.

Game over

Its up to a run a ball and their best bowlers are through to my all-rounders

End of Over 35: 129-5, runrate=3.69, reqrunrate=6.00 (218-10)
Delgado 6-1-12-2
Holt* 62 (113 balls)
Ramsden 0 (1 balls)
Last Wicket: Keigher b. Delgado 10 (FOW: 129/5)
34.6 . Delgado to Ramsden
Digs in a good, sharp, rising ball on off stump which tucks him up nicely. He hops on the crease and fends it down to his feet.
34.5 W Delgado to Keigher
Bowled him! Delgado has made a mess of Keigher's stumps there.

End of Over 37: 162-3, runrate=4.38, reqrunrate=6.00 (239-10)
Rennie 7-1-32-1
Nugent* 63 (96 balls)
Wijesinghe 21 (29 balls)
Last Wicket: Brookfield c. Healy b. Rennie 26 (FOW: 109/3)

Tight one here. Need another wicket, although going up to II would probably kill me. Still, delighted to give them a good match. Healy (43), Rennie (87) and Davenport (81) got the runs, Granville failed, so satisfied with the batting.

Looks like Ramsden is going to need all of his Strong XP here.

Hasn't worked.

All over.

39.3 W Fahy to Mcintosh
That's pure village from Mcintosh. He swung the bat as hard he could but the ball simply went straight down long on's throat.
39.2 . Fahy to Mcintosh
Mcintosh plays half forward and, using soft hands, drops the ball at his feet.
39.1 W Fahy to Ramsden
What a ball by Fahy! Clips the bat of Ramsden and easily caught by Martin.

I wondered how long it would take me to end up in the same league as someone on here!

End of Over 42: 193-3, runrate=4.60, reqrunrate=5.87 (239-10)
Rennie 9-1-39-1
Nugent* 76 (111 balls)
Wijesinghe 39 (44 balls)
Last Wicket: Brookfield c. Healy b. Rennie 26 (FOW: 109/3)

Sadly I won't be in II.

Lost by 6 wickets. Never mind. Gave it a reasonable go. Will be interested to see how you do in that league YB.
