Brown yet to pick first choice goalkeeper

That doesn't surprise me, Brown not knowing his first eleven.

All jokes aside, It could be said, it's split down the middle, with neither of them currently having the edge over the other one. (we could have worse problems I guess)

Oxley put in a decent stint against a very strong & dominating Newcastle Utd side which we lost 2-0.
Versus Ted that kept a clean sheet against Division 2 Col Ewe, granted he didn't have much to do, but he did pull off a good couple of saves in the 2nd half.

My personal guess is that we will start with Oxley in the league fixture against Gillingham this Saturday (with Ted on the bench), & then start Ted Smith in goal against them again in the EFL cup game on the following Tuesday (with Mark looking on from the bench).

This will buy Phil more time to make a comparison between them both, & of course he will have the luxury of making a final judgement in more detail of his two goalkeepers against the same opposition within 4 days.

Who will it be? who knows? My money is on Oxley, but hopefully we will have a much clearer idea who it should be, by the time of our first away game of the season to Port Vale on Saturday 13th August.

Can't wait for Saturday!!

I've not been able to get to any of the friendlies but I really hope Ted Smith becomes our number one. He is the one who just like Bentley can potentially make us a nice tidy sum.

The argument will always rear its head about him not being ready, lightweight etc. Then if that's the case the lad needs to be loaned out and given a chance to get some game time at league two or conference level. He is wasted sitting on the bench and playing in the u21 league.

Smith is no where near ready, he still looks like a little boy in the sticks and Oxley looks like a man.

I hope this is a smokescreen from Phil as if he can't see there is a clear standout contender for the starting position then we have our first problem of the season.
