Britt Assombalonga!

RobM

55 years as a supporter!⭐
Just seen his penalty attempt on TV. It almost went vertical! :hilarious:

I just checked Gavin's stats. He scored 16 goals in that season with Britt. Britt also scored 16. He then only scored 20 more goals in his next 150 games for Port Vale, Crawley and Dulwich Hamlet. He needed Britt more than Britt needed him.

Gavin did score 28 goals in 33 games for Cray Valley Paper Mills at the end of his career mind.....

Incredible that he once cost Middlesbrough £15Million. You can only imagine the sort of wages he's used to. So coming here for maybe 2 or 3 grand a week, is probably a no go. I met his younger cousin once on an away trip to Wimbledon when Ranger and Cox scored, (the famous boat party trip, Lol). I met him on the train part going there. He was with a bunch of blue voice lads. I was with some old Southend faces The cousin said he started supporting Southend once Britt came here, and was loving it, and had made some good friends. He said he didn't live too far away anyway. He showed us on his phone, evidence he is his cousin. I wonder if he still supports us? Anyway, although it looks like the goals are starting to dry up for Britt, he's 32 now, and some team a bit lower down than he's used to, could get 3 good years out of him.
