Wanted - Brentwood Town striker Danny Ogunleye (Image: ALAN EDMONDS)

By Chris PhillipsChief sports reporter.

BRENTWOOD Town hot-shot Danny Ogunleye has been training with Southend United, Echosport understands.

The 23-year-old has hit the back of the net 27 times already this season including two against the Shrimpers in the FA Trophy last month.

And the forward's fine form has now attracted interest from elsewhere, including Blues.

Shrimpers boss Kevin Maher and his coaching staff have been running the rule over Ogunleye in training but the forward is also expected to train with fellow National League side Halifax Town this week.

There is also interest from a League Two side.

The forward, who is the top scorer in Isthmian North this season, was with Forest Green Rovers before joining Brentwood.

I would say to the boy £75 cash in hand per week, a ton if you score, the bouncers will let you into Tots for free on a Saturday, you’ll be playing up front with Tom Hooper and Danny Kendall, Gus will pick you up for training every morning in his Vauxhall Corsa, free chips from the Fish House whenever you fancy a bite, two suits from Concept Man, a microwave for your mum and KAF will tape you anything you want from his extensive soul and jazz funk LP collection. Why would he even think of going to Halifax

With that sort of offer he would be gone in a flash.
