Brady: I'm devastated

Evening Echo

The News
TARA Brady says he is devastated to have quit as Southend United’s chief executive.

As already stated, the plan was to get this club two successive promotions and until a couple of weeks ago I felt we were on target

What has changed in the last couple of weeks that makes him think they werent on target?

Finance related maybe?

Then again if Ron is putting in the £100k a month he mentions. Then there should be no financial issues, right?...

Just like there hasn't been a whiff of when Tara was in charge of day to day operations.

I don't know, other than Luggy seems to have lost the plot. Half a season of mostly good sound decisions and two weeks of absolutely dire ones.

Nothing's gone right for us since Take me Out returned to our screens. I don't think this is a coincidence.

No we lost two game, both of which were after he quit.

I dont see anything that indicates he has lost the plot. The selection against Swindon may not have been to everyones taste but you can at least see the logic in it.

Expensive new signings, busting the wage cap, not getting rid of anyone. Squad too big. Poor performances on the pitch.

Again, last two games were after he quit.

Maybe he didnt like the idea of extra spending though. Unless he clarifies it we wont know and there will be endless speculation.

I thought it was Brady that approved the spending for the new arrivals .. to commit to extra expenditure when you are not going to be around to see the fallout is an odd way to conduct business, i wouldn't go as far as its a stab in the back but some might

I am sure reasons will come to the surface over the next weeks or months. First thing to notice is the arrival of the Taxman if payments aren't made or rumours of players not paid as things seemed okay since Mr Brady arrived.

Let's wait and see.

Letting it be known a while back that he wasn't enjoying the job and was disappointed with the fans ("low" attendances and not liking the style of play despite being top) plus apparently starting a new job in the city doesn't quite tie in with events over the past couple of weeks being the reason for his departure.

Do I not seem to remember Mr. Sturrock recently saying "With players coming in we also need to get some out. We've told clubs who from our squad is available but we've had no contact from anyone. But we have a ten day break after Shrewsbury and I think that could be the most important 10 days of the season. It gives us the chance to clear the decks for next season and several conversations will be taking place with the younger players we have here too."

None left but Tara did! ... Coincidence?
