After many many years as a North Bank regular on Friday nights / Saturday afternoon's, the combination of having children / no money / no-one to babysit but mainly a missus that worked Friday evenings & Saturday's put paid to that for far too many a year.

Now as the children are older & the missus doesn't work the Southend Utd unfriendly hours anymore, I'll be returning Friday & hopefully at least every home game from now on..

Not only that but I will be accompanied by my 11 y/o daughter & who knows that may be the beginning of another Blues love affair..

Well, you'll not be surging up and down the North Bank anymore .......... tricky question is where to go and sit?

South Bank is the "new" North Bank of course ..........
West Stand has a family section but also some more "interesting" characters to avoid ..................:whistling:
East Stand has all the atmosphere of a grave yard at times .....................:zzzzz:

Aye I know North Bank days are long gone, but happy memories..

Will probably be East Stand because its her first game & I don't think she'll enjoy it as much in the South. If I was on my own South is probably where I'd be.

And yes Friday night under the lights, always favourite with me..

I think Friday is massive in so many ways, we've lost the last 3 and not been great in any of them (i've seen 2 and listened to Chelt) .. league positions demand we win Friday, anything else :Scared2:

Welcome back, just goes to show that wherever you are and whatever the circumstances, even when going to games is difficult or even impossible, the shrimp is always there in our hearts.

I assume your 11 year old daughter must have been really naughty to subject her to a possible life of pain and misery. Surely an early night with no tea would be kinder.:winking:

Went through a similar exile then went back with my 9 year old son, spent the entire game explaining everything he asked, totally p****d off the guy sitting next to him!
Son is now 19 and a STH going home and away and now thankfully paying his own way.
Hope you and your Daughter enjoy the night and return for many more matches.

Bringing my wife to her first EVER football match......certainly know how to spoil her  She is SO enthusiastic, although she is managing to contain all the joy very well indeed. Hoping that they don't run out of Pukka Pies too early and that the coffee is better than usual - otherwise my "we can go out for a meal" surprise is ruined !
