Blues Monthly

I read in the latest liaision minutes that Blues Monthly won't be published anymore. Can anyone remember how many issues were produced? I just need to know if my subscription was fulfilled ...

Not quite sure, think about 8 issues??? I got every one and thought it was very good.

Shame it's not continuing, made for something good to look at!

It was OK but I don't think I would have renewed the subscription if it had continued. I wonder if the club is planning a replacement? I always liked the Blues News newspaper back in the late 80s / early 90s.

Dont think it was that many, maybe 4 or 5.

Like Mike it would be nice ot receive a letter from the club explaining it wont be produced anymore and to have the option of a refund or the club keeping the money on subscriptions

I have dug out four issues: the last I received was No. 4 with Che Wilson on the front - I haven't received anything more from the club nor anything to suggest that the publication had discontinued. I did wonder why I hadn't received something like a "promotion special" back in May but assumed that the combination of UK and Spanish postal systems were working on their usual snail-like pace! I'll mail the club because £10 an issue is a little steep ...

PROMPT RESPONSE FROM THE CLUB:

"I can confirm that the third party in this agreement has pulled out of the magazine and we unfortunately will not be receiving any further copies. I will however set about refunding all subscribers next week for the three editions that they have not received. Sorry for the inconvenience."

There we go ... and I think it might be a good idea just to mention something on the official site as well?

Good riddance!
It was shocking how bad Blues Monthy was. Massive spelling and grammar errors, irregular layout, and most of the content was huge advertising features or blatant plugs for sponsors.
Don't get me wrong, a montly magazine for a club is an excellent idea....but please SUFC, do it properly, or not at all.

On a better note, the poor programmes of last season seem to have stepped up in quality greatly and are doing more the justify the price tag. What was strange is that the name of the programme was changed to 'Blues Beat' for the Pompey match before strangley, with no explaination, returning to being called 'The Blues' again.

I have to agree. I subscribed because there was very little else I could do; I couldn't exactly wander to the club shop and take a look myself. When I received the first issue, I have to admit that I was hugely disappointed. The text was virtually unreadable and when it was the grammar and the spelling was atrocious, too much of the magazine was devoted to advertising the virtues of The Lights company (or whatever they were called) and the footballing content was generally dull and laid out so poorly that it made reading the magazine a chore. (Whatever happened to columns?!) Still, as you say, it was better than nothing, they had a go, but unfortunately it wasn't up to the standard we all expected. Bring back the Blues News newspaper!

How about a weekly "ShrimperZone Gazette" with guest columnists ? All your favourite posters could provide exciting articles such as "Go to Sleep reading Matt the Shrimp" , "Stalking Che by Leeboy" and even "Talking Sense by Mcnasty"

Sure to sell millions
