Bids out on 2 players

From official site (apologies if I missed this somewhere):

Paul Brush has confirmed that Southend have tabled bids for two mystery transfer targets.

Southend have already confirmed that they are interested in an unnamed non-league striker as well as Barnsley forward Paul Hayes.

But whilst United continue to chase that pair, manager Steve Tilson and his staff have now made moves to strengthen other areas of their side.

"We have made three bids for players, and they play in three different positions," said Blues number two Paul Brush.

"Nothing will happen for a little while because Steve Tilson is on his Pro License course in Wales but there could be some more news by the end of the week."

Southend are likely to be targeting a centre-back who can provide competition and cover for Peter Clarke and Adam Barrett after Spencer Prior retired, and Efe Sodje was released from Roots Hall.

Another midfielder is also likely to be on that wish list as the Blues are keen to enter next season, in League One, with a bigger squad of around 23 players.

Also mentions Hooper should hopefully sign a new deal imminently, with talks with Che soon to follow. So whats' Hayes like then?
