Best Quick Snack

No time to eat a big old meal tonight as football training , so opted for a fish Finger sandwich ........haven't had one of these bad boys for at least 10 year and have to admit i'm gonna be bang on these again , Top Drawer , gotta have vinegar and tommy ketchup .

great thread.. couple of suggestions:

a) Cheese on toast - onions and mustard on the cheese, served with HP.

b) baked beans '+' - add some curry powder or hot sauce to the beans.

c) the legendary baked potato. If you've got a decent microwave with a combi function, 10 minutes or so will get you a passable imitation of one that's been in the oven for an hour. serve with lots of butter, cheese if you so desire, and remember to rub some Maldon sea salt on it before cooking to aid crispiness. Mayonnaise and HP both have their fans as sauces here.

Lea & Perrins on the cheese, or marmite on the toast before you put the beans on!

A baked spud isn't a baked spud if it's been done in the microwave in my book as the skin's the best part - so it has to be really nice and crispy done in the oven.

Marmite isn't a bad shout, will have to try that.

Understand your feelings on the potato issue but as this is a quick snack thread, I like to do what i can to help those who are short on time. In the right conditions, crispiness can result i assure you.

moving out the box slightly, whack some haloumi cheese on the grill for a couple of minutes each side and serve it in a pitta with a few leaves and some chilli sauce. If anyone's not had haloumi i utterly reccomend it- keeps its shape when you cook it and tastes rather fine.

Don't like haloumi, but you can do something similar with a whole camembert too then just dunk bread sticks or veg or crackers in.

Incidentally, I always put marmite on the toast if I'm having scrambled eggs as well - just gives it a bit of extra kick especially if combined with HP on top!

Always seemed to have cold beans on toast after a big night on the tiles , drunken munchies are the best .

Also like Ravioli with thick french stick caked in butter , a moment on the lips , a lifetime on the hips

Bowl of pasta, tinned chopped tommies, soy sauce.
10 minutes on the boil - add the tommies from the Microwave.
Shake that bottle.
And we're done.

Love it.
