Best club in the league

bishmania

First XI
We may not have had the best team this season but last night showed why we are one of the best, if not the best clubs in the league.

1. The fans - I'm just so proud to be a Shrimper after last night.
2. Ron Martin - free coaches and then some hand shakes at the start to get us all going, new stadium, need I say more about him?
3. Paul Brush - had a kick about with our mascot (who'd been ditched by his two female Doncaster counterparts) while shooting practice was going on.
4. The fans (again) - for not reacting to some shameless taunting from a minority Donny fans on the pitch after the game, think they realised how silly they were being when they joined in our 'we hate Leeds scum' song.
5. Spending - we were struggling in Jan and then we back our team and manager by giving him the cash to go and get barney, walker, revell, mulgrew, kanu, etc...

Please add more...

6) pride - rather than just sitting there crying (which mostly every club would have done) we showed what we are about and shocked the home supporters with our un-conditional support. SOUTHEND AND WE'RE PROUD OF IT!

proud day to be a shrimper

I agree but I think it should also be mentioned that there were a good number of Donny fans who applauded our support on the pitch after the game too and fair play to them for that.

I only saw Rovers fans going to your end to applaud you rather than to taunt, if this did take place I want to apologise on behalf of the 99.9% of the Rovers fans last night who thought you were awesome last night in support of your team.

Oh, it took place ok, it was quite clear on tv. Mindless idiots, every club has them.

Yeah there were a few who thought it funny to wave 5-1 and try to taunt us but as we did not respond and more Donny Fans came over to applaud, also with the Leeds ditty, this did seem to stop the idiots as they did not get the response they wanted/expected.

One incident did make me laugh, most Donny fans we meet after the game and wished good luck to were great but one Old Rotund Donny fan just told us to F*** off, ah the Yorkshire wit at it's finest ;)

There was a good number of supporters applauding but a few idiots as well,

Thanks to those good fans at Donny, and best of luck at Wembley

Unfortunately there are always a few idiots who spoil it for the rest, they don't represent the vast majority of well behaved and well respected football fans, sorry for those who behaved as such last night and hope you have a good next season. Hoping we won't be playing you!

I made this post after the Southampton game last season and it is still very relavent....

Ok, I admit the title of this thread wasn't what i was saying after full time but think about it. Forget the frustrating players and the constant defensive gaffes. What are you left with. The club we all love. No matter what league or position the clubs in they always have us fans. It's nice after a day like today to remember just how much we love this club, what it's done for us in the past. Who knows what might happen next season, we could come bottom or win the league on over 100 points, who knows?
All I know is come next season I will be back in Roots Hall cheering on the players, why? Because I love Southend United and always will.

UP THE BLUES!!

I'd rather have the worst fans in the league and a Wembley playoff final to look forward to.

I can't imagine Hitler sat in his bunker as the Red army closed in consoling himself with what a good bunch of lads he had.

I'm proud of the fans, but I'm with Cyril on this.

Would prefer to be like Torquay Youth - 'hated but rated'. (another of Cyril's bon mots)

I think most people would be talking about Wembley oh here had me made it there, but alas it wasn't to be ...I think therefore the attention has turned towards the high spot of last evening and justifyably so..

Are you talking about L**ds!

See on your OS Tilly wants Rovers to win and go up, good man. I'm sure those in L**ds will now start a Tilly hate campaign (already started on the bbc 606 messageborads), if so he will be the most popular man in football outside of L**ds.

I shut some fans up on the coach :D:D they were doing the usual 5-1 with thier fingers, so I just clapped them and they clapped back... weird how the yorkshire brain cells work!
