A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. When a herd is hunted its the slowest and weakest at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole with the regualr killing of the weaker members of the herd improving its overall quality and creating a virtuous circle.
Similarly the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest cells. Alcohol in excess, as is well known, kills brain cells. Naturally it attacks the slower and weaker cells first making the brain a faster and more efficeint machine.
This is why, you always feel smarter after a few beers.
Thus the drinking of a few beers creates a virtuous circle of improving brain power .
