Beer hunt...

So sorry to mention the S word again (infact, I wont mention it!), but whilst in a lovely city on the opposite side of the world I discovered a beer called Victoria Bitter (VB) and consumed copious amounts of...

Can you get it in the UK?

Oops... just read most of the other beer thread and MtS gives VB a good mention.

I wanna enjoy it at home tho TFS, so anywhere selling bottles of it?

I don't know where you can buy Australian Style beer in the UK.

If you want to buy Australian style clothes however I would recommend BUST, SCOPE, Barnados, Sue Ryder and Help the aged.

With a little understanding....you can find the perfect blend.

Waitrose sell quite a variety of bottled beers

Oh and I'm not desperately holding onto the memory of this holiday or anything like that.... *whistle*

Cheers McSriv... will check later. ASDA's was a blow-out...
They do a pretty good selection of bottled beers (in big sizes) and I'm sure I've seen it there.

Yea, our ASDA is pretty good for weird and wonderful beers actually - thats why I was sure it would be there amongst the Mongolian Goats Bitter etc.... but nada...

Our local Tesco's is pretty cack for weird and wonderful beers.  Oddbins, on the other hand, tend to do quite well on that front.  Also, living between Greenwich & Lewisham means at least I get a pretty decent variety of Carribean beers... Red Stripe, Carib and Dragon Stout are all available at my local corner-shop - all of which are far preferable to the Stellas and Carlings of this world.

Aussie beers... I'd still probably go for a Toohey's (which is an Sydney/NSW beer... VB is, after all, from Melbourne), Carlton Crown (premium beer from Victoria) or J.T. Boag's (Tasmania's finest export) over a VB - although VB is, itself, none too shabby.

Apparantly there is also actually an MB - Melbourne Bitter which isnt as nice as VB.... Mind, I think the lass behind the bar was ****ed when she was telling us...

Safeway/Morrisons is very good for bottled beers.

If you are in there any time soon check out Honkers Ale or India Pale Ale by the Goose Island brewery. It's American but it is fantastic and quite strong too.

Courtesy of Mrs RM, who is currently planning to bankrupt us by buying all sorts of strange Kiwi goods in bulk.

Nah, cans of L&P soft drink and all sorts  of sweets and biscuits. Although if we're paying for post packaging I may as well slip a few crates of beer onto the order as well!

Just go to the Church (which is held at the Forum) on Sundays, opens at 11am and finishes at about 4 in the afternoon. Full of Ozzy's and Kiwi's and has all the beers!
Went there for a stag do (with about 10 rugby players) and then on to Backpackers for a few treatments in the dentist chair!

Never again!

E.g. Hokey-Pokey ice cream...

My sis went out with a Kiwi, and his mum used to send all manner of strange confections over... some nut chocolate thing which I can't remember the name of now.

Needless to say, he also loved a slice of beetroot in his burger...
