i hvae a feeling if he goes it wont be for much. Maybe 100/200 thousand. i think he is worth more to us if he stays. he will scare the living daylights out of defenders at this level.

Agree with you id say £150k at the most but id let him go at £100k.

I'd be rather more convinced by this story if it wasn't in the Star, and if they actually realised that Luke Guttridge hasn't been a Southend player for 6 months.

oh i agree, they should get more for him. i know we are "not a selling club" however. a firm offer of 150k might make Rons head turn.

I don't think it would. RM knows football reasonably well and i think he realises that he probably won't get a better winger for league 1 that a) wants to play for us and b) will cost 150k

Are some seriously suggesting £100-150k for JCR is a fair price??! I really don't think Ron will sell for anything as low as that, we paid more for Foran and Paynter!!!!! And not far off on Harrold either!!! I used to have my doubts about JCR but the way he performed last season he's worth way more than the figures stated and is deserving of Championship football.

He did tell his agent to dismiss any transfer talk with the likes of Watford and Charlton as we were the only club he wanted to play for - I hope he still thinks like that even after our relegation. If I was Ron I'd try and give him a contract extension this summer, however even if he thought about leaving I don't think he'd be one of these players who dug their heels in and had a strop if a bid's rejected.

The very fact that this rumour was taken from the Daily Star tells me that it is rubbish, coupled with the fact that the information is wrong they dont even seem to realise that Gutts left Southend. If it was true then 150k is just ridiculous money, he is worth well over that.

200k for one of the few players who looked comfortable playing in the Championship? You're having a laff, aren't you? I reckon he was the most improved player we had last season.

And as for the comment about him not crossing the ball, maybe that's a fair comment two seasons ago but last season it was a lot better - it wasn't his fault if nobody was there at the end of them.
