Homicide: Life on the Street
Homicide: Life on the Street was an American television police procedural series chronicling the work of a fictional Baltimore Police Department homicide unit. It ran for seven seasons on the NBC network from 1993 to 1999 and then was followed by a 2000 TV-movie that served as a de facto series finale. The series was based on David Simon's nonfiction book Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets, and many characters and stories used throughout the show's seven seasons were based on individuals and events depicted in the book (Simon would also use them in his own series for HBO, The Wire). Although Homicide features an ensemble cast, Andre Braugher (who portrayed Det. Frank Pembleton) eventually emerged as the series' breakout star.
The bulk of the show's first-run episodes aired on Fridays at 10 PM EST on NBC.

Munch was the absolute Daddy. Such a great character that he also turned up in Law and Order and The X-Files. Homicide used to air at 10pm on Friday nights when I lived in Canada and justified staying home with a few tins of Kokanee Gold and a pillow case bag full of Cheetos.

Prison Break is a drama television series created by Paul Scheuring, which premiered on the Fox Broadcasting Company on August 29, 2005. The series revolves around two brothers; one has been sentenced to death for a crime he did not commit, and the other devises an elaborate plan to help his brother escape prison. The series was produced by Adelstein-Parouse Productions, in association with Original Television and 20th Century Fox Television. The current executive producers are head writer Scheuring, co-head writer Matt Olmstead, Kevin Hooks, Marty Adelstein, Dawn Parouse, Neal H. Moritz, and Brett Ratner. The series' theme music, composed by Ramin Djawadi, was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award in 2006.
The series was originally turned down by Fox in 2003, which was concerned about the long-term prospects of such a series. Following the popularity of serialized prime time television series Lost and 24, Fox decided to back production in 2004. The first season received generally positive reviews, and performed well in the ratings. The first season was originally planned for a 13-episode run, but was extended to include an extra nine episodes due to its popularity. Never really watched either so i'll stay clear of this one. Remember though, in the event of a tie, quality of campaigning comes into play.
