Alien (TrueBlue)

versus

Nightmare on Elm Street (brad the shrimper)

Two long-running characters here - but which original film is best?

Alien without a shadow of a doubt. Not just a brilliant horror film, but a brilliant film per se. Not something that can be said of ol' stripey jumper.

Steak meal?

Isnt Alien a Sci Fi film, so not actually a Horror?

Freddy K for me

Irrelevant where it's set surely? If it's a scary film - it's a horror IMHO. I can see your argument for AlienS not being a horror but replace scary monster on spaceship with man with knife, you've got your archetypal horror film.
