London Pride, Fuller's flagship beer, was crowned the Supreme Champion at the 2000 International Beer and Cider competition. London Pride was named Champion Best Bitter at the CAMRA Great British Beer Festival in 1995, and in 1979 when it also achieved the ultimate accolade of Beer of the Year. It also received the gold medal at the 2002 and 2001 International Beer and Cider competitions. Additionally, judges awarded the bronze medal to London Pride at the 2002 Great British Beer Festival in the Best Bitter category.

London Pride isn't the greatest bitter in the world I'd wager, and Nastro Azzurro Peroni is a great lager; but bitter still wins every time for me

Controversially... I'm going to go Italian here. The problem with Pride is, I suspect, with the pubs rather than the beer itself - but I've had far too many poorly kept / stale / musty pints of Pride. I'd go so far as to say that poorly kept Pride is far more commonly found than well kept Pride - and it is to Fullers's discredit that they haven't sorted that out and been more ruthless with their distributors.

Bottom line - if I was faced in a pub with a choice of Pride vs. Peroni... I'd probably plump for the latter, as it's the safe option. A shame - because a well-kept Pride is a great beer; but someone needs to sort it out.

As for the hope of a Peroni v. Stella final... fatshrimp, have your tastebuds had a bypass?!

:thump:

Can safely say Ive never had a bad pint of Pride, now watch has every pint I have will be bad :(

People like it in the Spread.

Which, no offence to The Spread or Fullers, I find hard to believe. The guest ales in there are always top notch. Otter was great when I had that last.

Will the new ground have any ales I wonder? I very much doubt it, barring maybe Worthington / John Smiths, which don't count in my snobby world...

Tough one this. I do love a good pint of Pride, but if Peroni is on tap in a pub I'll often gravitate towards that.

Going to abstain for the moment as, thanks to a few too many pints of London Porter last night, I don't want to spend too much time this morning thinking about booze...

Ooh. That's harsh.

I play it safe for the sort of reason you've alluded to.

Basically, I've never had a bitter that I've really enjoyed. When choosing a drink, I want something I know I'll enjoy rather than taking a lucky guess and getting it wrong.

I too love the guest ales the Spread now do, regarding the ground it will depend on if they keep the bar open during the week, as the problem with Ale is it does not keep well, so it needs to be drunk over a shorter period of time. With all the proposed retail and leisure facilities being suggested for the site, it might make sense that one of the bars can be accessed from outside the Stadium to allow a daily clientèle.

I had to go for Pride as Peroni seems to appear in to many of the City's pretentious bars.

The toughest 'round' for me so far. I loves both beers for totally different reasons, gonna have to think long and hard on this one.

Can't believe Pride is trailing to some poncey foreign lager. Pride is a great pint.

Not sure where MtS has been drinking it (Wetherspoons?), but I think Fullers pubs are amongst the better pubs around IMHO.

Tends to be the non-Fullers pubs where the Pride isn't so good. I remember having a pretty ropey one in Hammersmith before the QPR away game a couple of years ago.
