Battered by Doncaster

Kent Shrimper

Mike Reid
Whilest perusing the Football Forum i came across something interesting which appeared in the Yorkshire evening news. Basically Doncaster now have a wage bill of 3mil per year. However the quote that sticks out is the battering they gave us?

"When I look at the three teams who went up – Col******r, Southend and Barnsley – we battered them all and we would have been a lot better equipped to handle the Championship than one or two of those teams.
We are geared up to be in in the Championship, at least"

Yorkshire Post

Granted, they were among the better teams to come to the Hall last season but they clearly have some issues of delusion going on there.

6000 x £16 (Avg. ticket price) = £96'000
96'000 x 23 (home games) = £2'208'000.

That leave doncaster well short of their wages bills! unless they get a good cup run & finish in top 6 at least, anotherwise they are f**ked!

What have Doncaster Rovers EVER achieved that resembles any sort of significance?

As for that wage bill - thats extortionate for a club that size! Don't Football clubs ever learn?

For some reason I was thinking of them yesterday, and thought to myself I must stick some money on them to win League One this season.

From memory I don't think they battered Col Ewe. They lost 3-1 at Layer Rd, IIRC (2 o.g's though) and drew 0-0 up there.

They were easily the best side to play at Roots Hall last season, but we were petrified with nerves on the day.

So, Doncaster give out programmes for free, as well as pre-match drinks, and all stadium catering.

They make no money from sponsorship, and give away all merchandise for nothing.

Great economics

Fair point but I thought the league were bringing in regulations to bring wage bills in line with revenue?

Also, as UB would point out, the VAT man might want a slice of that.

60% of the money from home games goes to players wages, its the football league rule, so where Donny find an extra few million to cover their wages bill. Ok Doncaster beat us 1-0, but few week earlier they got beat 3-0 at Yeovil! Its don't make them better than us.

no its not. see my previous tongue in cheek answer

Meh. Rovers have been our bogey team for a while now. So bloomin' what. The table doesn't lie - we were Champions, and they were nowhere.

Cheerio, you Northern monkeys.

(P.S. Does 1-0 pass as a "battering" these days?)

I don't mind getting slated by people in the same division. but by those in the league below, the cheek!!!!

Even if they 'battered' us there must have been alot of teams they didnt batter as they still finished 13 points behind us.

Now go and look for something to eat in your dustbins

What do you actually bring to this board? I used to find some of your posts mildly amusing and used to think you were one of the rival fans that were alright and you could have a bit of banter with aswell as some normal chat sometimes....Now your'e just plain boring

Donny didn't batter us at the Hall. I thought they were pretty mediocre - they just got to run into us when we were doing our best to throw promotion away.

Biggest load of b******s I think I've ever heard! Southend team spirit is exceptionally high which makes us far more "equipped" than them in my opinion.

They may have battered us, Col Ewe and Barnsley but looking at their end league position its obvious they didnt batter everyone else

oh yes geared up for the championship with your 6000 fan base - dream on nurthun munkeys
