BAC Philosophie

Spare a thought for my daughter, Clara, who is spending the whole morning, battling with one of the three questions listed below, in her Baccalauréat philosophy paper. Philosophy is considered so important that the mark given is multiplied 8X! Blow that completely and you've virtually blown your Bac!

Not surprised , unless you can understand your perception of teh world around you its damn near impossible to explain it to others .

Bring back philosophy in all schools :D

Firstly, I stand corrected........Bac(Literature) Philosophy only has a weighting of 7x............that's alright then!
Clara stayed nearly the four hours, writing seven pages on question 2................
Does language betray thoughts? (my translation).
Here the opening philosophy exam is treated with some reverence, even though many would claim, like GCSE's, that today's standards are much lower than in the past.......it is always one of the major items in the afternoon and evening news broadcasts.
The marking is rather subjective and as most philosophy teachers are mad as hatters it is a bit of a lottery. One of the philosophy teachers from the local lycée is in a mental asylum ........and my daughter's teacher, this year, was walking around the Lycée this morning with bare feet. My wife's cousin has just become a doctor of philosophy and the last time she was seen down here, this childless woman was carrying around a baby doll and introducing to people so as they could give it a kiss!

They also tend to play mind games with other people for ***** and giggles as well to push peoples boundaries of perception , its a fun thing today :D

If you think philosophers are mad try Quantum physicists and theoretical mathematicians. Once you brek the veil of the norm theres no going back ;)

Hope your daughter did well with her results mate. Mrs Irish Shrimper's brother passed his at the third attempt when the results came out today!
