After last weekends victory against Colchester United in the Essex derby, Southend will be looking for more success on the road against Peterborough. Manager Steve Tilson has said to be looking to sign an out of favour Championship striker on loan in time for tomorrows game with Dougie Freedman (thigh) & Francis Laurent (hamstring) missing out but both could return for the visit of Milwall on Tuesday night.

Darren Ferguson - Ferguson followed in his fathers footsteps into management on 20th January 2007 when he left Wrexham to become player-manager of Peterborough. Ferguson never made an appearance for Peterborough as a player. Ferguson has took charge of over 100 games and lead The Posh to League Two promotion last season.

Aaron McLean - One time Southend target McLean originally joined Peterborough on loan on 31st October 2006 and then signed permanently for £150,000 on 1st January 2007. McLean is nearing 100 appearances for Peterborough and has scored over 50 goals.
Craig Mackail-Smith - Posh’s top scorer this season with 21 goals and has already beaten his tally of 19 goals towards Peterborough’s League Two promotion last season. Charlton Athletic were rumoured to be interested in signing Mackail-Smith in the summer of 2008 but no move materialised, Birmingham City and Cardiff City are now rumoured to be lining up a bid for the 24 year old front man.
Lee Frecklington - On 6th February 2009 Frecklington signed an initial 3 month loan deal from Lincoln City with a view to a permanent move. Lee is a 23 year old central midfielder who had been at Lincoln City from the age of 16.
Joe Lewis - Highly rated 6’ 6’’ 21 year old ‘keeper, Lewis made his England U21 debut on 15th May 2008, Replacing Joe Hart at half time in a game England won 2-0. Later that month Lewis received a shock call up to Fabio Capello’s squad for friendlies against USA and Trinidad & Tobago although he was an unused sub for both games.
