Avoid ASDA petrol

I don't know if many people here use ASDA petrol stations but if you do, and you use their self-service card machines - be careful.

I have been charged 11 times for times i filled up throughout July and August alll in one day (all these transactions are over a month old) yet recent ones came out fine.

I contacted ASDA about this for an explanation who said they know there is a problem but they can't do anything about it (even though I suggested a simple sign on the pumps would be a start).

The unhelpful and rude person I spoke to from Shoebury also said that some of the payments are going through more than once and some people are being charged for petrol that isn't theirs!!!!

The worrying thing (for them) is that it's happening to loads of people - I know at least 6 others with the same problem and 3 of them have transactions they aint even theirs!!!

I often use Tesco's self service pumps and have never had a problem with them..... I'll be steering clear of ASDA in future though

And if anyone does have a problem - avoid trying speaking to Joanna at ASDA in Shoebury as you will get f**k all out of her!! She is supposed to be a customer service manager and sounds like a trainee who has just left school with no idea how to speak to customers!!!!!!

"There's nothing we can do - you have the petrol now so it's your property"...

Forget Shoebury Lee,

Contact head office and then ask Mts nicely and he may be able to suggest something in legalese which may shake them up a bit.

I contacted Head Office who then said there was nothing they could do who then got Joanna to ring me back again!!! I can't believe a company like Asda can get away with treating customers like this!

MtS, if you're reading, have you any idea as to what I should do / who I should contact. I have not got an issue with the fact I have to pay for the petrol. The issue I have is that so many seperate transactions have been taken in one go - some originating from over a month ago - leaving me overdrawn etc etc.

When I contacted the bank about this they said they have the right to hold the payments but it is very rare. She also suggested that Asda should have contacted customers first and / or warn them by displaying a notice...

Oh I must of misread the original post...

There are no invalid transactions just that they have delayed taking the money out for a while.

Unfortunately I don't think they have done anything wrong, (their accountants might have something to say about the delay in banking the takings but thats up to them)
As for the overdrawn bit, i am afraid thats down to you and your recordkeeping.
This sort of thing was common place in the days of cheques

Why would anyone in their right mind put Asda/Tesco/Sainsbury petrol in their car in the first place ? I know they are fed from exactly the same refineries but they are lower quality, lower octane and typically lower RON. It is cheap for a reason ! If you drive a company vehicle or an old banger please ignore this observation.

Having said that I believe Tesco now do a 98.7 (possibly higher) Super in some places, which might be worth a half tank try out.

Don't you check your statements or keep a record of your transactions?! If not then I don't think you have much of a case against ASDA. Surely you should have allowed for these transactions?

i check my statements online all the time but the reason i didnt notice is that some transactions did come out on time.

i cant remember every day i put petrol in my car and assume i dont need to which i why i think asda should at least warn customers. i would expect to buy someone in a shop using my card and have the money taken a month later..

Why not stop drinking every night, probably smoking too.

Do you really need a mobile phone as well.

It wasn't like that when I was a student.

If you want a bit of payback why not do a little shoplifting spree?

But who in the right mind would want to shoplift in that s%&te hole of a store. Maybe you should take a leaf out of guy the other year who just walked in and started chucking petrol around as he was about to set light to the Customer Services Desk. Maybe they have known about this problem for a while.
