We have an option for next season on Leonard's contract so Wordsworth and Thompson should take higher priority

I really like Atkinson. He's like a much better Carl Pettefer. I think there's a ceiling to how high we could go with him as a regular in the side but if we ever reach that point it's a nice problem to have.

At the beginning of the season I thought we'd see his contract out, but with the performances he has become an important cog - happy for him.

With regards to Thompson and Wordsworth, we're on the cusp of Play-Offs and according to Simon Cox's article in The Echo the other day, the team spirit right is 'something special'. Who wouldn't want to sign?

Excellent news, a hugely underrated player who has really stepped up his game this season and been very good every time I've seen him. Cannot for the life of me understand why people have such a gripe against him.

A vastly improved player who has developed from a reasonable squad player to an important balancing element of a good team. His work rate allows the more creative players to flourish but has shown some decent skill himself lately and has also chipped in with some good goals. Well done to the coaching team as his confidence has visibly grown.

Always rated Atkinson, his work rate is second to none, and yes, he may not play the killer pass, but if that part of his game was a good as his work rate, he wouldn't be at Southend.

Still makes me laugh that some people on here, thought Deegan was a far better player!!
