Are tottenham genuine contenders for the title.

I have an affinity with Spurs because my dad was a season ticket holder there and I used to go with him. So I admit to an element of bias, but after today's win at Man City, I genuinely think that they have a shot at the title. Leicester deserve to be where they are but Spurs are really starting to believe they can do it.............and so do I. Anyone agree?

I think you are right, they are coming good at the right time. I would love them to win it. I, like you have an affinity with Spurs as my Uncle was an uber fan, followed them all over Europe back in the 60's - 80's and told me lots of stories so I supported them until I got to an age where I was proud of my local team.

I also have an affinity with Spurs, & I really do hope they go onto to win it, but from the current top 3 teams of Leicester, Spurs and Arsenal. Tottenham & Arsenal have the toughest run ins (on paper at least).

Of the current top 8 teams in the Premiership:

Leicester have to play - Southampton / West Ham / Man Utd - (Also have to play Chelsea)
Tottenham have to play - West Ham / Arsenal / Liverpool / Man Utd - (Also have to play Chelsea)
Arsenal have to play - Man Utd / Tottenham / West Ham / Man City

On the plus side.. I reckon that Man Utd supporters arent to confident at their own run in for a european spot.

Also Leicester only have to play their remaining 12 Premiership games from now until the end of season, whilst Tottenham & Arsenal have the additional games of the the FA Cup and European action, which could take its toll on fatigue and injuries etc.
I imagine Tottenham have a slightly better chance of beating Fiorentina & progressing in the Europa league, then Arsenal do at beating Barcelona in the Champions league.

Either which way, i think it will be a close finale to the season & a good advertisment for the english premier league.

All the media seems set on either Spurs or Leicester winning it. I wouldn't rule out Arsenal and think they may surprise a few and do well. The only issues they have is the champions league and FA cup to concentrate on.

It's good for once that "The Best League In The World" is for once not being the usual 3 horse race. I hope Leicester nick it, but I think they'll fall short sadly.

Arsenal are bookies favourites and I think that is right, I think they will win it. I'd prefer Leicester or Spurs but think Arsenal will edge it. Amazes me how many people are writing off Man city with their history of coming from behind to win the title, was thinking of having a little bet on city at 7/1

Only 6 points behind with 12 games to go, it's not out of reach yet. Man City certainly have the squad for it.

I WANT Leicester to win it, I THINK City will win it though.

The best thing is that its so close race with 4 genuine contenders left. Certainly makes for interesting viewing.

I reckon the top 4 will remain as it is meaning Spurs will achieve their target for the season and Leicester clearly over achieving.

This is Arsenals best chance in years but they always bottle it when it comes to the business end of the season. City have been pretty poor for a while now and they havn't exactly set the league alight with amazing football.

I believe Leicester winning it would be a fantastic story and also their style of play has been relentless at times. They play exciting counter attacking football. I have been waiting for the wheels to come off with them though and as yet it hasn't happened but their next game is a huge one as it could all go wrong at this point after losing so later against the gunners.

BUT as I say it will certainly be a interesting end to the season. Its the same for The Championship and also league 1. No ones set to win anything and theres lots to play for in the remaining games.

Without parental guidance (as in they hated football) Spurs were the first side I got attached to before I fell under the spell of the mighty shrimpers, and ever since they've been my second team, so I'd love to see them win it. They play stunning football at times, with plenty of young English talent, and I think it would be great for English football if it happens.

re the penalty against City, I'll admit I'm biased but i don't think it was the awful decision everyone in the media is making it out to be. It was hand ball, it was in the area. It was accidental, but Sterling threw himself recklessly into the path of the ball without watching its path so if it hits his arm which then affects the flight of the ball, it's a pen in my eyes so the ref was right. Show me a fan who wouldn't claim it if it was their team on the attack.

Having been brought up in Spurs household, I hope Arsenal bottle it as usual.

My wife is a Spurs fan, although she actually owns more Southend shirts that Spurs ones. (I take great pride in that!) Anyway, for that reason I do actually keep an eye out for their scores, even if I haven't seen them play. You have to say any team that is where they are have a chance...

I know plenty of Southend fans do have a second team or Southend are their second team. For me I couldn't imagine supporting two teams.

Same here. I support Southend, and only really care about the division we're in. People describe me as a football fan, I usually correct them and point out I'm a Southend and England fan. I don't care about football outside of those two worlds.

That said I have a soft spot for Liverpool, and have done since the 70s. These days (as already mentioned) I also keep an eye out for Spurs' results purely for my wife's benefit.

I haven't seen it at all, but my view is that I've seen Sterling dive to win penalties before so just see this as a bit of divine retribution!

I certainly don't have any affinity with Spurs but as an Espanyol fan I'm glad that their ex-player and manager is doing so well in the Prem.

(I also have an interesting bit of gossip as to why he got the sack at Espanyol ,which wasn't reported in the press but I don't think I'll share it here, as it could be libellous).

My serious reply is that they are doing far better than I expected (as are Leicester) - but I think one of the big boys will overtake them,

(Actually got a soft spot for Spurs as they were my Dad`s team)

You see? When you park Mr Grumpy some positive vibes for Spurs bubble up and over.
