I get that a lot of folk on the Zone are pretty brassed off with the playing side of things, players and coaching, I know I am. Given our current performances how could they not be. But I'm fed up with reading the same grumbles/abuse/character assassination in just about every thread I read, regardless of whether the thread is relevant to the post or not. Once I've read a post, I'm fully aware of what it says, and repeating it whenever an opportunity arises doesn't make the post any more important.

I realise that on social media today nobody really gives a **** about who says what or where, but for what it's worth, I do, and I hoped that ShrimperZone was a bit different to the rest of social media. I also realise that I will probably get seriously rinsed for this thread from some quarters. Nevertheless I feel better for airing my view, and if you don't agree with it, fine, I'll not lose any sleep.

Here here @RHB

It’s frustrating to go onto the transfer rumour thread and see 3/4 new pages since you was last on, and none of them are about transfer rumours, mainly people knocking or defending Kev.

You open up the do we need a new manager thread, and it’s the same. To be fair, this is the right place to read that.

You open a thread about the Brentwood Town striker training with us, and it’s all Kev will do this, he’ll be on the bench blah blah blah.

I’ve had 7/8 people who have DM me about things. People saying they feel like I’m targeted at times because I know people and frustrations get taken out on me because I defend Kev.

To put the record straight I don’t actually have an “in” with Kev. I’ve met him three/four times. He played in a charity match I organised in 2014, I met him when Southend United did a run on the seafront with the management (when Luke the kitman was here) I met him at a meet the junior blues day (last season) and my Roots Hall Run back in October.

I don’t have an in with either of the other amigos to. Mark Bentley actually played in the same charity match as Kev did in 2014. I’ve met him on the same occasions and Darren Currie hasn’t played in any charity matches of mine, but I’ve met him on the other occasions. I actually DM him on Twitter and he spoke to the other amigos and that’s how the three of them appeared at my Roots Hall Run.

When I defend Kev, I’m not defending a “mate”.

Also, people need to be careful how they are messaging on here at times. You never know what people are going through, and my Roots Hall Run actually lined up with the clubs Match for Mind. I’m running the London Marathon for South East & Central Essex Mind (please DM if you want the link to donate 🙏🏻). There has been times where I’ve wrote out a reply and deleted it and reworded it. Mental health is such a big thing, and I know people have been effected with it during the last 3/4 years at this club.

Surely, we all want a successful Southend United at the end of the day, apart from a few of our four fingered friends from up the A12, and the closest shrimper from Orient…
