Any PS2 games worth a recommendation?

Anyone recommend a genuinely great PS2 game?
I've gone through all the usuals SOCOM, medal of honor, final fantasy etc.
I'm Looking for a great game thats not necessarily very famous but has twisted your melon.

If you can find a copy, I always thought that ICO was a top notch game, despite not selling that well.

Give Viewtiful Joe a try and Real World Golf where you have to wear special gloves and use a club to play the game instead of pressing buttons.

Along with the usuals - GTA, MGS, PES

I grabbed Capcom Classic Collection for PS2 the other day, theres some real golden oldies in there - 1942, Commando, Ghouls and Ghosts, Final Fight and 3 versions of Street Fighter 2. Also been playing Madden 2006 a bit recently.

Ooh where can you get such a gem?

I remember a collection being released on the original PS, but not the PS2. I'd love to play Ghouls and ghosts again, I remember playing it when I was a wee nipper in my local chippy, along with the original Out Run.

And Street Fighter 2..... still the best beat-em-up of all time.

It's out over here in November, I grabbed an import version.

More info on here Capcom Classics Collection

Christ - a compilation packed with classics and all for under a score. I'll look forward to that when it comes out!

And it's got Gun.smoke on it. I loved that game....

the ravages of time haven't kind to some of the games, Final Fight seems very basic next to todays beat 'em ups but Street Fighter II still rocks.

Final Fight was never as good as the best scrolling beat-em-up ever, Streets of Rage 2.

SFII still beats any fighter around these days, though! (and it's MILES better than Mortal Kombat)

Ahhh.... the great feeling you got when you beat your mates at it and then ripped their character's head off / burned them to death / uppercut them onto spikes.....

Cheers for the advice guys.

ICO looks like a goer for me, i've seen a few screen shots which look quite brooding and full of atmosphere. Can't seem to get a copy at the mo'.

You might like a game called God of War, check out the review -->

Also gotta say that the Streetfighter Anniversary Collection is great if you're into beat em ups. Spent many an hour in the arcades and on my friends SNES playing SF2 World Warrior and the later games. Of course you can get virtually all ninety odd Street Fighter games relased in the series playable in MAME etc. More into King Of Fighters myself though, KOF98 was just a superb game.
