Talking of bad discipline at the club, would it be fair to say this guy has never been accused of being an outstanding influence in the dressing room at any point in his career. I’m thinking West Ham, Sunderland, QPR.

Good point.
I really think our next signing should be a Gripper Stebson type character.
Who? :stunned: Is this a story that starts: ‘during the war...’?
I'm not aware of Anton being anything other the a real good pro- his issues about fitness have nothing to do with work ethic or not looking after himself. He was great last season- various knocks this year and he seems to be at a point where it might take longer to recover.
Are we lining him up as the next person who needs sacking? I think we need a complete reset now- clean slates for all players- CP to pick his team and formation based on what he sees on the training ground and the pitch from this point forward.
KM will understand the above- the fans were trying to get him sacked for some time until he turned out to be one of the best CM we have had.
I went to almost every game when Maher was getting abuse and in my opinion Maher never helped himself by never seeming to try very hard. To his credit he turned it around but it wasnt a case of him being picked on for no reason.
5-0 that was. 9th February 2007.
Comparing him to Bobby Moore, I'm not so sure. They played in different positions.
For shame 'spaceman'.
The legend of Stebson is well known amongst those who were brought up on late 70's children's TV.
On a serious note, when I saw the thread title, I thought he'd either left or was the new manager!
Was it only 11 years ago? Blimey I'm younger than I thought. :dim:
Doubt it mate... it's probably the 4-1 win over QPR on 27/3/1954 you're remembering...
