So, his signed a contract until the end of the season but is it really necessary?

What do you think the idea is behind this signing? It's escaping me.

Is he on trial to be Barry Corr's fit replacement? Will a player from the Irish top division make the grade at League Two or possible League One.

To add, Blair's extension.

No question Sturrock has made some good signings. I just think this one is somewhat negligent given options he has at the club. (Asante, Benyon, Crawford, Dickinson, Harris, Mohsni, Sampson, Sturrock)

It's pretty hard to criticise Luggy at present, but we do seem quite top-heavy. Some of our strikers may go out on loan to get them in the shop window before they leave in the summer (Crawford, Asante, Paterson, Sturrock?)

It's a punt on a player that impressed in a trial game- doubt he's costing much money and if he comes good then we win. If he doesn't then we haven't lost much.

Morning Gents, how are we all this morning?? This is what I think....... (as she puts down her coffee and rest's head on arm) if we are to gow up, Sturrock has done this before and he knows that the most important thing is that we will need to score goals to win games, so if we get inhjuries and players off form, wants to play a different system to beat different teams he has a whole showcase of strikers available that know how to play that game..... At the end of the season Simpson Blair Corr and probably Flood will all have gone, and in fairness they probably (apart from Corr) arent havent cost us very much at all!!Thats my theory, having said that I still believe women are better drivers than men!!

Hardly think its "negligent" when you list players who have barely got near the pitch.

Asante - Wont ever play
Crawford - Wont ever play (and recovering from op)
Moshni - Not an out and out striker
Sampson - May only be here a month and too early to rely on.

That leaves Benyon, Harris, Dickinson and Sturrock (who we all know will not score many but is a good option to hold up ball etc).

I dont imagine Corr will feature this year and even if he does he will be so rusty will be hard to get into the season.

At this moment I cant hand on heart say we have two strikers that should be picked above all others. Dickinson being first choice out of those.

Sampson may do well but so far only has a super sub appearance against tired legs vs the team at the bottom of the league.

I imagine that this contract is pretty much an extended trial for Flood who is moving from Ireland for a six month contract on, from what we have to assume, not great money. He's got six months to show that he's worth a decent contract here or somewhere else in England.

I guess it also helps continue to get trialists in to play friendly/behind closed doors games, if Luggy mentions about Flood then perhaps more people will come down for a trial.

Shame on you Kay, picking on a newby. You know perfectly well that she meant Sampson and that the only thing wrong with her post is at the end of her final sentence! :winking:
